I watched the game last night and was surprised at the end to notice the Hornets had 27 turnovers! The defense really stepped it up in absence of Mo Williams. I think the Clippers have reached their low for the season and now it is time for them to reach their peak.

  2. 2011-'12: CP3's Game-Winner vs Philly

    (February 11th, 2012 // LAC @ PHI 78:77)

    http://i43.tinypic.com/f1a90o.png

Paul’s careening game-clinching shot that upended the Atlantic Division-leading 76ers was something unusually spectacular.

“That was incredible,” 76ers head coach Doug Collins said. “Andre Iguodala played him, couldn’t play him any better. He hits a fade away jump shot. There must have been three or four times they fell on the floor with the ball and scrummed it out, and got it out, and it was a wonderful play.”

The play was initiated with an inbound pass from Caron Butler to Paul with 18 seconds left and the Clippers trailing by one. w

What came next was hardly by design. Paul dribbled into the lane, being hounded by Iguodala, one of the game’s premier perimeter defenders, and after picking up his dribbled dropped a bounce pass at the feet of Blake Griffin, who was posting Elton Brand on the right block. The ball bounced between Griffin’s legs, he stretched to pick it up and as he turned, began falling to the floor.

“That’s one of the weirdest plays I’ve ever been a part of in my basketball career,” Brand said. “Blake Griffin’s on the ground with the ball on his knees. I actually thought he was going to shoot it from the ground. We have to get to those loose balls. Then when Chris got the ball back again, Andre played great defense on him the first time, but Chris was just able to hit that amazing shot at the end.”

From his backside Griffin had the presence of mind to rifle a desperation pass out top to Kenyon Martin. The new Clipper big man turned to his right and handed it back to Paul with about nine seconds on the clock.

“That almost turned out to be ugly,” Paul added. “I threw the ball between Blake Griffin’s legs. I thought it would be a turnover, so thank you Blake Griffin for diving for the ball. Without him, we don’t win the game. I looked up at the clock and saw that I had a second chance at life. I had missed like two or three of those in the fourth quarter with the shot clock running that hit the back of the rim. Got to keep shooting. Luckily it finally went in."

As if in tune with each tick, Paul dribbled Iguodala from the right wing into the lane, stopped just past the free throw line, stumbled slightly as he turned away from the hoop, stepped back to 16-feet and drilled a perfect fadeaway over his long-armed defender. Three and two tenths of a second remained. Clippers 78, Sixers 77. Relive this amazing shot:

This was great team play. It's awesome when the game ends like this for Clippers fans! I can't wait playoffs are right around the corner!! Lob CitY!

  3. Yo Title, remember Jason Hart's game-winner? It happened on this day exactly five years ago:

On This Date in Clippers History: -->>MARCH 21st<<--

    Game 68: LAC @ MIL 104-103 (32-36, 8th West)

    http://www.nba.com/media/clippers/LACMIL_070321_400B.jpg

Jason Hart made the game-winning layup with 3.0 seconds remaining to lift the Clippers to a 104-103 victory in Milwaukee. Corey Maggette poured in 22 points, while Elton Brand added 21 points, eight rebounds and five blocks. The win got the Clippers back at the 8th spot in West!

I remember this game! It was an exciting finish that's for sure. The good old days when Maggette and Hart were big names around Clippers fans. Now it's CP3 and Griffin, the names have changed, but the game has not.

  4. Game 67: 100-116 vs GSW (21-46, 5th Pacific) March 19th 2008

Corey ranks 10th in the NBA in PPG with a career-high of 22.4 PPG! :rocker:

Corey Maggette had 21 points and 4 boards (+ 1 assist, 1stl) on Wednesday but his Clippers couldn't make up the difference during a 116-100 home loss to the Warriors.

Only weeks after Maggette reached the 9000-point plateau, the 9-year veteran forward accomplished another feat -- Corey registered his 500th game in a Clippers uniform! That's the fourth highest total in franchise history.

    Milestone Watch: (at the time)

    Team: G (GS) - PTS

    Clippers: 500 (351) - 8,586

    Career: 577 (355) - 9,232

This Clippers memorabilia really brings back some memories. It's great to watch the Clippers getting ready to make a playoff push. I wonder how influential Nick Young will be.

  5. 2009-'10: Boom Dizzle's Game-Winner vs Boston Celtics

    (Deceber 27th, 2009 // LAC - BOS 92:90)

Baron Davis of the Los Angeles Clippers releases the game-winning shot just 0.01 before the buzzer, following two missed free throws by Rajon Rondo, as the Clippers stun the Boston Celtics, ending Boston's nine-game road winning streak.

I remember watching this game live on tv when it happened. The Clippers are my favorite team to watch, I liked how they played last night against Atlanta it was nice to see some of the starters get some rest. I wish I had some of the game winning shot videos save on my computer :( thanks for posting these it brings back positive memories!

  6. EDIT: See latest post!

    -----------

    Sources: Clippers eye Bobby Simmons:

A second stint with the Los Angeles Clippers awaits for 2004-05 NBA Most Improved Player award winner Bobby Simmons. The Clippers are planning to sign Simmons out of the D-League to a 10-day contract after the All-Star break, according to sources close to the situation.

Simmons, 31, is averaging 13.5 points and 7.6 rebounds for the D-League's Reno Bighorns. He last played in the NBA during the 2010-11 season, appearing in just two games with San Antonio.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound swingman's greatest NBA success came with the Clippers in 2004-05, when he averaged 16.4 points and 5.9 rebounds to earn Most Improved honors.

Simmons earned himself another 10 day contract! This is great news and I am happy to see the Clippers trying to add some depth to their lineup. It is no secret the season is shortened with more games in a less amount of time and that affects the players health overall, we have already had 1 player be a victim of injury. It is essential that VDN makes some changes in the lineup in order to keep his players health and the teams chemistry intact. The playoffs are creeping up and it will be interesting to see how this second half of the season turns out. The Clippers are now holding on to their first place rank in the Pacific Western Conference by the skin of their teeth. Lately, I have noticed that the team has a knack for playing catch; even relying on CP3 or other players to simply shine in clutch time in order to win. This is a tough way to play and has many flaws + against a veteran team or a strong consistent team the catch up game does not work.

  7. Seriously it's understandable that Griffin feels he is being treated differently. Part of the game is adapting maybe the refs miss a few calls here and there, but sometimes you have to pick your battles. I would not think that referees enjoy when players criticize their calls or question their abilities.. would you? Grififn is a great player and has really made a name for himself it's only his second year in the league and he is doing great.

  8. This is a big weekend for all NBA fans, but for Clippers Nation we will be watching two of our players throughout the weekend. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin will be starting in the All-Star game on Sunday. This game looks like they have the right ingredients for competitive and entertaining basketball. Also, Griffin will be playing on Team Shaq for the Rising Stars game which is tonight! It is going to be great to see how Griffin matches up with some of these guys. I am really pumped for this awesome weekend! Share your thoughts on the forum, and engage in social media during the game to show your support!!

  9. Search engine, affiliation link, signature link, AIM, MySpace? :dribble:

I found this site through a search engine. However, I recently started to become more active due to other members reaching out and making me feel welcome. Many forums I go on are not up to date and sometimes do not have the best people. Really it is the people who make or break a forum and determine how useful it is.

  10. This does not sound like a bad idea. However I am not sure how Jordan is on the bench, I always see him excited and jumping around which is a good sign he understands that there is a time and place for everything. Regardless, hopefully a message could be sent in a positive way that brings the team together, the last thing the Clippers need right now is tension in the locker room. The Clippers have thrived off their team chemistry which has often separated them from teams in a great way.

  11. Insider: How Clips replace Chauncey

The landscape in the Western Conference was altered by this week's injury news regarding the L.A. Clippers' Billups. Chauncey is definitely out for the rest of this season and may never play in the NBA again. The Clippers are among a handful of teams capable of challenging the West-leading Oklahoma City Thunder in the postseason, so where do these injuries leave them?

    http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/0218/fan_g_foye_200.jpg

Randy Foye will assume a larger role in Billups' absence.

Depth has been an issue for the Clippers, but luckily for them that's a frontcourt problem only. L.A. had five quality guards on its roster before Billups went down, and now they have four. In terms of quantity, they should be fine. Unfortunately fit is a problem, and unlike Denver, the Clippers are probably going to have to go outside the organization to fill out their rotation. With Billups gone, Randy Foye steps into the starting lineup. Foye replaces Billups' size in the first unit, but leaves a pair of 6-foot-1 guys coming off the bench in Mo Williams and Eric Bledsoe. Nobody outside of Charlotte, N.C., would be crazy enough to play a backcourt that small for very long, and one of them is going have to play alongside six-footer Chris Paul from time to time.

The Clippers have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for J.R. Smith once he finishes up his time in China. At 6-6, Smith could plug the size gap and may be a better option than Foye to play alongside Paul with the first group because he's a more consistent outside threat. That may seem like a strange statement given the streaky nature of Smith's game, but Foye has been maddeningly inconsistent during his up-and-down career, and the Clippers may not want to rely on him in a large role.

Smith is a much better defender than Foye and his gambling ways might play well alongside Paul and in front of DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin's athleticism. Not only can he provide the same floor spacing (but not playmaking) as Billups, but he can play heavy minutes and help deflect some of the defensive leak that occurs when Williams steps on the court. The Clippers are 10.4 points per 100 possessions worse defensively with Williams in the game, which is the primary reason Billups' plus/minus numbers have been so strong this season even though he was shooting worse than he has in about 11 seasons.

Unfortunately, the Clippers have only the veteran's minimum to offer Smith after burning their mini midlevel exception last week on Kenyon Martin (remember our sermon about opportunity cost?). That doesn't necessarily rule out Smith for L.A. There might be no better way for Smith to showcase his ability before another summer of free agency than to play a big-time role on a contending team -- and make it work. He might be surrendering money in the short term, but if things go well in L.A., he'd be making it up down the line.

These injuries leave the Clippers with the an opportunity for some other players to step up. Right now they have the key ingredients needed to make a great run this season and be successful. If the Clippers can utilize all the tools they have and continue to play their brand of basketball they will get the results they deserve. It is fun to watch such a great team develop and grow with each game, there talent and chemistry shows that they have great team strength on and off the court.

Favorite Clippers Coach, All-Time: VDN all the way I love some of the others by VDN is one of the best.

This is an unfortunate set of circumstance for the Clippers, but opportunity can be found. Mo Williams or Foye will have an opportunity to play in a starting position. The Clippers have the strength and chemistry as a team to overcome this loss and continue to develop and grow. The true colors will show as the Clippers rebound from this unmistakable loss.
