The smiles were hard to come by Friday for Dwight Howard, once the thousand-watt light bulb of the NBA.
He briefly managed a grin when discussing his Center Center for Centers," a YouTube bit about a fictional training center where centers -- banished from the All-Star ballot –- are trained to become point guards, and thus given the ability to become "productive members of the NBA," Howard said.
But that was all the fun and games for Howard, whose jovial presence in the sport has been muted by two solid years of uncertainty about his future. Last year in Orlando, the Dwightmare was in full force, consuming All-Star weekend with speculation over where Howard would be traded after he'd made it clear he wanted no part of staying with the Magic. A blockbuster trade that sent Howard to L.A. -- the kind of glitzy market he craved, in an environment shrouded in championships –- has not made him happy.
Howard said Friday that Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak has told him he does not want to trade the free agent-to-be. It's the same message Kupchak delivered in a recent interview withNewsday and the same message he's given Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, in recent weeks.
However, CBSSports.com has learned that the Lakers have engaged in preliminary trade discussions with an unlikely trade partner regarding Howard: their fierce rival, the Boston Celtics. The centerpieces of the possible deal, which hasn't gained any traction, would be Howard and Rajon Rondo.

In a lengthy discussion with Ryan Ruocco on ESPN Radio,
Stephen A. Smith said Thursday that Dwight Howard still believes he will wind up in Brooklyn, despite the impediments, and that while he might be "delusional," it is not impossible. Smith added, the Nets would
have to "capitulate" and the Lakers would have to be "convinced" Howard is going to leave before any deal can even be discussed. Among the other points made by Smith in discussing Howard's current situation
last March's trade deadline debacle: --Howard told Rudy Gay that he "messed up" by getting traded to Toronto, that he "should have waited and ended up with me in Brooklyn." (One problem with that, however:
Smith said Howard told that to Gay when the Lakers played the Raptors in Toronto recently. The Lakers haven't visited Toronto since the Gay trade...although a few days before the trade, the Lakers and Howard
visited Memphis.) --Dan Fegan, Howard's agent was unaware the center had opted to stay with the Magic the night before last season's trade deadline, that Howard "did that behind Dan Fegan's back." Smith said,
"if Dan Fegan had his way, he would have been in Brooklyn last year." Ruocco, the YES broadcaster, said he knew that. --The Magic did a "phenomenal job" of getting Howard's family, particularly his father, behind
them. "He wanted his son to remain in Orlando," Smith said Here's a transcript of the conversation between Smith and Ruocco...AUDIO Starts at 35:00 MIN

Andrea Bargnani: Toronto Raptors, 27, PF-C
"Toronto definitely wants to move Bargnani," one NBA GM said.
Marshon Brooks: Brooklyn Nets, 23, SG
Contract status: Making $1.1 million in second year of rookie contract.
Andrew Bynum: Philadelphia 76ers, 25, C
Contract status: Making $16.1 million in last year of contract.
Pau Gasol: Los Angeles Lakers, 32, PF
"I believe that the message being conveyed to wait and see with Nash is accurate," one GM said.
Kevin Love: Minnesota Timberwolves, 24, PF
-
As a Laker fan looking at the situation from our perspective it's no wonder I believe now why Minnesota has been trying to get Pau Gasol now with a package of Derrick Williams, and Nikola Pekovic plus some draft picks while keeping Love now. It's because in my opinion after Minnesota hoped to obtain Pau they would've shipped Love off for a All Star wing player to complement Gasol, and Rubio. But anyways read this article to understand how I put the pieces together. I'm evened shock at what Glen Taylor as Wolves owner said/
For everyone else still stunned over the Minnesota Timberwolves' owner and general manager downright daring the franchise's best player to leave for free agency in two years, Kevin Love promises to be a professional, promises All-Star performance and productivity. Over the organization's refusal to designate him as the cornerstone, though, there come no promises of forgiveness from Love. No assurance it won't chase him out the door and out of the franchise forever someday."That's a tough pill to swallow."

The Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers are engaged with the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers in a four-way blockbuster that could ultimately deliver superstar center Dwight Howard to the Lakers, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The proposed deal includes the Magic also gaining draft picks and salary-cap relief, sources said.

Lmao wtff is wrong with you guys? I'M A STEVE NASH FAN... Did I jump the ship after Amare left and our team was garbage? No.
Magicbalala...everybody knows your a bandwagon so gtfo lol. 50% of Laker and Heat fans are and you fall into that category. You should be the last one saying anything to me.

Celebrating a bit too early because this sounds like BS. Rudolph pretty much said on the radio that Dwight didn't comment on his inquires, which suggests someone in Dwight's inner circle that wants him in LA fed Rudolph that rumor.
Chris Broussard also confirming the same reports it's alright fellas LA will take back the ship from Miami and too Make It Nashty way to jump on the wagon when you called me a bandwagon before lol enjoy this season fellas.
-
U Mad Yugo ?

We winning the ship fellas.
Weren't you a suns fan and before calling me a bandwagon online ?

Charles Barkley reveals he was traded to the Lakers
in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Posted
Sorry for the shaking quality of the video but if you guys missed the interview after All Star Saturday when Chuck sat with Ernie Johnson Charles reveals he was traded to the Lakers. Wonder how the Lakers franchise would've been if the landed a prime Charles Barkley in his prime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG3GQoujBm8
I wonder who and what pieces were involved in the trade. We can all take a guess as I just saw Chuck was traded to Phoenix in the summer of the 1992-1993 season. And he said the year before he was traded Phoenix he was traded to the Lakers so we can take a best guess of who the Lakers traded for Chuck just by looking at their roster in 1991-1992
