  1. Sorry for the shaking quality of the video but if you guys missed the interview after All Star Saturday when Chuck sat with Ernie Johnson Charles reveals he was traded to the Lakers.  Wonder how the Lakers franchise would've been if the landed a prime Charles Barkley in his prime

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG3GQoujBm8

I wonder who and what pieces were involved in the trade. We can all take a guess as I just saw Chuck was traded to Phoenix in the summer of the 1992-1993 season.  And he said the year before he was traded Phoenix he was traded to the Lakers so we can take a best guess of who the Lakers traded for Chuck just by looking at their roster in 1991-1992

  2. The smiles were hard to come by Friday for Dwight Howard, once the thousand-watt light bulb of the NBA.

He briefly managed a grin when discussing his Center Center for Centers," a YouTube bit about a fictional training center where centers -- banished from the All-Star ballot –- are trained to become point guards, and thus given the ability to become "productive members of the NBA," Howard said.

But that was all the fun and games for Howard, whose jovial presence in the sport has been muted by two solid years of uncertainty about his future. Last year in Orlando, the Dwightmare was in full force, consuming All-Star weekend with speculation over where Howard would be traded after he'd made it clear he wanted no part of staying with the Magic. A blockbuster trade that sent Howard to L.A. -- the kind of glitzy market he craved, in an environment shrouded in championships –- has not made him happy.

Howard said Friday that Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak has told him he does not want to trade the free agent-to-be. It's the same message Kupchak delivered in a recent interview withNewsday and the same message he's given Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, in recent weeks.

However, CBSSports.com has learned that the Lakers have engaged in preliminary trade discussions with an unlikely trade partner regarding Howard: their fierce rival, the Boston Celtics. The centerpieces of the possible deal, which hasn't gained any traction, would be Howard and Rajon Rondo.

  3. In a lengthy discussion with Ryan Ruocco on ESPN Radio,

Stephen A. Smith said Thursday that Dwight Howard still believes he will wind up in Brooklyn, despite the impediments, and that while he might be "delusional," it is not impossible. Smith added, the Nets would

have to "capitulate" and the Lakers would have to be "convinced" Howard is going to leave before any deal can even be discussed. Among the other points made by Smith in discussing Howard's current situation

last March's trade deadline debacle: --Howard told Rudy Gay that he "messed up" by getting traded to Toronto, that he "should have waited and ended up with me in Brooklyn." (One problem with that, however:

Smith said Howard told that to Gay when the Lakers played the Raptors in Toronto recently. The Lakers haven't visited Toronto since the Gay trade...although a few days before the trade, the Lakers and Howard

visited Memphis.) --Dan Fegan, Howard's agent was unaware the center had opted to stay with the Magic the night before last season's trade deadline, that Howard "did that behind Dan Fegan's back." Smith said,

"if Dan Fegan had his way, he would have been in Brooklyn last year." Ruocco, the YES broadcaster, said he knew that. --The Magic did a "phenomenal job" of getting Howard's family, particularly his father, behind

them. "He wanted his son to remain in Orlando," Smith said Here's a transcript of the conversation between Smith and Ruocco...

  5. Andrea Bargnani: Toronto Raptors, 27, PF-C

Contract status: Three years, $33.25 million remaining. Player opt-out in 2014. Due 5 percent bonus if traded.

Buzz: Bargnani is sidelined with elbow and wrist injuries, tempering his short-term value. He hasn't lived up to the hype and injuries have been a concern throughout his career. Still, the young 7-footer can score and remains a sharp 3-point threat.

"Toronto definitely wants to move Bargnani," one NBA GM said.

Marshon Brooks: Brooklyn Nets, 23, SG

Contract status: Making $1.1 million in second year of rookie contract.

Buzz: Brooks had a sensational rookie season averaging 12.6 points. But with the addition of Joe Johnson, Brooks has averaged just 6.2 points through his first 14 games this season. Sources said the Nets dangled Brooks in offseason trade talks, but his low contract number makes it difficult to get much of a return for him in a deal.

"They are one of the rare teams that can afford to keep their team at a championship level financially," an NBA GM said. "For them, the development of young players isn't important because they can overspend."

    Andrew Bynum: Philadelphia 76ers, 25, C

Contract status: Making $16.1 million in last year of contract.

Buzz: Bynum is still experiencing left knee pain that has kept him from making his debut with the Sixers, but is hopeful he can return sometime in 2013. He becomes a free agent at the end of the season and was expected to command a five-year contract approaching $100 million. His health problems threaten to substantially reduce that number.

One NBA general manager said the Sixers have been making trade inquiries about adding a starting caliber center.

"They got to be a little panicked now," one GM said. "They could get a really interesting deal for him. I could see them doing that."

Pau Gasol: Los Angeles Lakers, 32, PF

Contract status: Making $19 million this season and due $19.2 million next season. Due a 15 percent bonus if traded.

Buzz: Gasol was nearly dealt to the Houston Rockets last year and continued to be the center of trade whispers. The Lakers, however, aren't expected to seriously consider any deals for him until after he returns and gets a chance to play with Steve Nash, who is also currently sidelined. If a move does happen with Gasol, it will likely be much closer to the trade deadline.

"I believe that the message being conveyed to wait and see with Nash is accurate," one GM said.

Kevin Love: Minnesota Timberwolves, 24, PF

Contract status: In first year of a four-year, $60 million contract. Can opt out after the 2014-15 season.

Buzz: In an interview with Yahoo! Sports NBA columnist Adrian Wojnarowski, Love recently questioned the direction of the franchise under owner Glen Taylor and general manager David Kahn. Love isn't happy about not getting a five-year maximum contract, and some teams might try to explore acquiring him from Minnesota.

"I don't think that's a match that is permanent in Minnesota," a rival assistant GM said. "I'm not saying they're shopping, but if they can get the right deal they would look at it. And I don't think he wants to be there."

  6. As a Laker fan looking at the situation from our perspective it's no wonder I believe now why Minnesota has been trying to get Pau Gasol now with a package of Derrick Williams, and Nikola Pekovic plus some draft picks while keeping Love now. It's because in my opinion after Minnesota hoped to obtain Pau they would've shipped Love off for a All Star wing player to complement Gasol, and Rubio. But anyways read this article to understand how I put the pieces together. I'm evened shock at what Glen Taylor as Wolves owner said/

For everyone else still stunned over the Minnesota Timberwolves' owner and general manager downright daring the franchise's best player to leave for free agency in two years, Kevin Love promises to be a professional, promises All-Star performance and productivity. Over the organization's refusal to designate him as the cornerstone, though, there come no promises of forgiveness from Love. No assurance it won't chase him out the door and out of the franchise forever someday.

"I don't know who labels people stars, but even [T'wolves owner] Glen Taylor said: I don't think Kevin Love is a star, because he hasn't led us to the playoffs," Love told Yahoo! Sports. "I mean, it's not like I had much support out there.

"That's a tough pill to swallow."

No, Kevin Love isn't over Taylor and GM David Kahn refusing him what he had earned. He isn't over Kahn marching into the trainer's room after a loss and thrusting a contract offer sheet into his hands. Where else does it work that way in the NBA? "I'm not the one to always follow professional protocol – but I do know what it is, even at 24 years old," Love says.

Perhaps those issues wouldn't still be so raw had the franchise responded differently when Love broke his hand in a preseason workout. In a regimen he's done most of his life, Love fractured a bone thrusting himself to his feet upon completion of a round of knuckle pushups. He missed a month on the floor, but his ears missed nothing from those in management whispering that maybe the injury didn't happen the way Love insisted it did.

"Even people in my own organization were asking if it was a legitimate injury, people calling my honesty and integrity into question," Love says. "And that's what really hurt me."

  8. Lmao wtff is wrong with you guys? I'M A STEVE NASH FAN... Did I jump the ship after Amare left and our team was garbage? No.

Magicbalala...everybody knows your a bandwagon so gtfo lol. 50% of Laker and Heat fans are and you fall into that category. You should be the last one saying anything to me.

lol that's funny RD can vouch for me that I am not a bandwagon lol

  9. Celebrating a bit too early because this sounds like BS. Rudolph pretty much said on the radio that Dwight didn't comment on his inquires, which suggests someone in Dwight's inner circle that wants him in LA fed Rudolph that rumor.

Chris Broussard also confirming the same reports it's alright fellas LA will take back the ship from Miami and too Make It Nashty way to jump on the wagon when you called me a bandwagon before lol enjoy this season fellas.
