  1. Derozan's being playing solid so far tonight, went off in the first, but really hasn't taken too many shots other than in that quarter, Raps need him to keep being an offensive threat!

Derozan did play well but he disappears too often in the game. He really lacks the killer instinct to be an effective offensive player in this league. He doesn’t have a go to move to create space for his shot or the ability to break down the defence in a half court set. His strength is in the open court when this team is playing up tempo. Due to the fact that they’re slaying away on the defensive end which turn this team into a half court offensive team and it not a good look for this team.

  2. What a sad game really. I thought the raptors played well defensively and they played much better offensively. There were a lot of bad turnovers and most importantly they need execute when they got to the charity stripe.

Derozan is soft player that lacks killer instinct. This guy in my mind offensively has loads of potential. He is too caught up of getting his in the flow of the offense it’s really pathetic. Derozan needs to become more aggressive and attack the basket more in order for him to be successful.

  3. I look at Boston as a title contender a lot of team are playing 6 games in 8 nights as a result a lot of injuries are happening. This schedule fixes itself come playoff time and if a team like Boston is the 7th or 8th seed do you think a Miami or a Chicago want to play a veteran team like Boston when at that point they will have a chance to rest and there won’t be as many games in a short number of nights?

  4. Toronto Star

DeRozan struggled through another desultory offensive night as the Raptors were beaten 98-91 by the Sacramento Kings at the Air Canada Centre on Wednesday and with Andrea Bargnani headed to hospital for an MRI on a strained left calf, the attention DeRozan is going to attract as the best scorer on an offensively challenged team is only going to get worse.

Bargnani, who had 10 points and 10 rebounds before leaving for the night, is expected to have an MRI on Thursday to assess the damage. With the Raptors off for the day following three games in three nights, it won’t be until Friday before they have to figure out what they’ll do.

“He doesn’t even remember doing it,” said Casey of his star big man, who had been averaging more than 24 points per game. “It’s a lot of fatigue. You see a lot of it around the league right now as far as fatigue, pulls and that sort of thing.”

The Kings, meanwhile, rode 21 points and 19 rebounds from Cousins and 29 points and seven assists from point guard Tyreke Evans to the victory.

It’s bad enough that are team as a whole isn’t playing well and the one player that is playing well could potentially be out for a few games. This is a bad deal.

  5. If Bargnani can continue to play at something close to a Dirk type level then this team will not be a bottom dweller this year.

Regardless of how well Andrea plays the talent around him isn’t as good. At the end of the day point guards, shooting guards and small forwards always have greater impact in the game. A lot of teams in the NBA seem to be much more talented at those positions unlike the Raptors. Teams will sag on Andrea and take away options that have made Andrea so successful thus far. All I’m saying is if our guards don’t improve their game it will make it twice as hard for Andrea to continue at this level that he is at right now.

  6. This team is not talented enough to doing anything in the league. They lack offensive toughness an execution. They turnover the ball a lot and in my opinion they haven’t looked like the same offensively team that we saw last season. The team is working hard defensively but I would like to see them have that same toughness on the other end or else it won’t be a competitive game to watch. The SF position is where this team needs to improve. Butler and Johnson haven’t been productive and right now the PG position isn’t great with the exception of Calderon.

  7.

I'd absolutely love it if the Raptors were able to deal him for a late 1st or something as I definitely think that there could be some late first/early 2nd round gems in this years draft. Barbosa is easily the teams best chance at acquiring a late round pick.

In terms of the flexibility I think this is the only option that makes sense for the rebuild. Raptors don’t want to add salary that may compromise the flexibility and to add an additional pick in this coming draft will help make this team’s future bright. Or let the contract expire and it’s still a good thing.

  8. It has to be Ed Davis. I don’t think the Raptors have any other big that plays defence better than Davis. I like Amir and see the Raptors using Amir at center whenever we go small. Ed Davis is not a legit center but I think we play our best players to further their development if the Raptors are comfortable with keeping Andrea.

  9. I think the Raptors have good young talent and it depends what pieces the Raptors put with Demar and Davis. Will the Raptors trade Andrea? If his salary is in fact of a third option on any team then Andrea’s contract carries a lot of value and he is a talented scorer who can net this team possibly draft picks in this year’s draft or a legit young talent.

Calderon is a player that I believe needs to go. Giving him some credit Calderon is a legit backup point guard for a team contending for a championship and I think after this season his contract becomes more attractive for the Raptors and other teams in the league. Overall I think the best thing that BC has done is sign pretty much everyone to one year contracts to preserve his flexibility in order to make this rebuild work for the long term.
