“We cannot or do not "retaliate" in literal kind for most crimes--how would you "retaliate" for rape or fraud or assault?--and therefore it is unprincipled to say we ought to retaliate in kind for murder” (Schwarzschild). “Good societies do not hang people, do not torture people, and in select key areas, they allow their values to take precedence over all other considerations. After all, if our legal system followed the cost-benefit analysis of economics, we would shoot all young, first-time offenders -- because we know they are very likely to offend again” (Goldstein). “Shooting a person because he shot a person to death – to deter others from shooting people – is faulty reasoning” (Wood). “It was as if the punishment was thought to equal, if not to exceed, in savagery the crime itself… to make the executioner resemble a criminal, judges murderers, to reverse roles at the last moment to make the tortured criminal an object of pity or admiration”(Foucault 9). “approximately two-thirds of the world’s countries have abolished the death penalty” (Schabas 93). Just some interesting quotes to think about.

You are very misinformed. Yes, death is easy but that is simply not how our judicial system works these days. Statistics show that in most cases, it is a lot more expensive to kill a death row inmate than it is to have him sit there for the rest of his life. If we were still hanging our inmates without multiple trials, than yes death would be cheaper but in the world we live in today it is actually more expensive. And at the end of the day, most Americans just care about their money. Another reason why it is amazing that the death penalty has not been abolished in the USA yet.

Anyone who still supports the death penalty needs to do some research on the topic. I was split on my views concerning capital punishment in the United States until I wrote a 10 page research paper on the topic last semester. The death penalty's cons far outweigh the pros. I can post the paper if someone is interested but I doubt any of you will sit there and actually read it. This guy deserves life in prison with no possibility of parole, not the death penalty.

In this case I wouldn't say quicker. But I guess it depends on the person. -

My favorite sport to play is basketball without a doubt. But in recent years, watching football (NFL) has surpassed watching basketball (NBA).

Better question. What don't the Nets need to improve upon?

That's dope.

Sure but at the end of the day he is a man. A man that clearly feels very disrespected by the Nuggets management. The only way this deal would continue is if Kroenke got on his knees and sucked his dick. Real talk.

Nate Robinson Working at a Chipotle
Guru replied to Guru's topic in NBA and College Basketball Media
Haha Qdoba is great. Way better than Chipotle imo. Plus Rutgers students get a pretty nice discount at the one on George St. But yeah, Nates a G. Nice to see him getting involved in the community like this. -
