I can't wait for a bunch of 18 year olds to challenge the NBA on their age limit requirements because they would most likely win their case in a landslide. Most states have laws prohibiting age discrimination for employment of anyone 18 years or older. The NBA is going to lose in court very soon when they are challenged. The NBA has NO legitimate legal claim to keep players who are 18 years old out of the league. If a player was willing to bring the NBA court, the NBA would lose very quickly, and it would be a massacre. The NBa would stand a 0% chance in court.

Nathan Horton is going to have the series of his life, and this is his first playoff series ever. I have him as being the Bruins best offensive player in these playoffs.

Yes, that is better, but I don't like the lengths on the contracts still. It's a much better idea as teachers have to prove themselves first, but I think the length is a little long. I still don't get why some of you guys think teachers should have the security of the union and tenure, especially when New Jersey has only fired 17 teachers in the past ten years. It's the same thing in the NBA and all other sports. If you can't hack it, you get cut....

Yes, I want teachers to possibly get paid more money, but have the possibility of being fired without an absurd process. Pay teachers more, and get rid of tenure or fix it.

This is where the problem lies. Bad teachers should be able to be fired, but tenure prevents that. THAT is wrong, and is hurting our education system. Why should bad teachers be able to keep their jobs? Why should teaching be different than almost any other job where poor performance is grounds for firing, and teaching is extremely important, so there's even more need to fire poor teachers?

I completely understand it can be a strenuous job, but teachers know that going into their profession. It is their choice to become a teacher. I just find this statistic to be completely embarrassing. In the past ten years in the New Jersey school system, only 17 teachers have been fired. Let that sink it. ONLY 17 teachers have been fired. Do you think there are only 17 poor teachers in New Jersey? I can probably name 17 poor teachers that I know of off the top of my head. I'm very opposed to teachers having the amount of security they do with tenure. In almost any other job, if you perform poorly, you....get.....fired.

Why a re you trying to sa "teaching is not that great, right"? It's their choice to teach, and they know what they are getting into. I addressed the next point in my previous post because it's obvious. Again, they are working those extra jobs because they are getting an enormous amount of time off from work, which is why they don't get paid as much as other professions.

Yes, 50k is a VERY GOOD amount for the amount of days they work. They are't working 5+ days a week for an entire year. They get the weekends off like the students, along with all of the holidays, along with a 3 month summer vacation. They are working a lot less than people that hold other jobs that work five days a week, year round. That is where the 50k is more than adequate enough. Is 50k better than 75k? It all depends on what comes along with both of the salaries. Having a hell of a lot more time off and having 50k may be worth it to many people, say, like...teachers. They know they are not going to make a fortune, but have many other benefits for their job like time off and a job that is TOO secure.

Also, the majority of New Jersey teachers pay NOTHING towards their health insurance or anything. Not a PENNY!

You do realize that's a lot for a high school teacher, right? And, who gives a shit if they are trying if they aren't producing? . Come on!

They go to poorer schools because they generally live in the city...... Some of the stereotypes have merit, especially when African Americans are ten times as likely to commit a violent crime than whites are. At the end of the day, society as a whole is moving forward, so playing the "inequality" card isn't really going to fly, especially when we have a president of African American descent.

Chris Christie is a beast. I'm sorry, but teachers have way too much going in their favor, and they should not have the luxury of tenure, which will hopefully go away in the coming years. Just like some New York schools are doing, and other schools in the country, take away tenure, and double the teachers pay. Bam, education will improve in no time.

Of course they existed way before WSHH, but I just find it interesting how most of the people filming these fights involving mainly African Americans are always saying something like, "Oh, damn, this is going on WSHH, yeahhh!!!". They're always excited to film and show these fights, but the every day people wonder why African Americans (I'm generalizing) often get a bad reputation for violence, besides the statistics. I honestly don't care too much, but it's just another reason that a lot of people still believe in certain stereotypes.
