NBA PM: Chris Paul Committed to Clippers When free agency opened on Sunday, Chris Paul was one of the first players to receive a contract offer. The Los Angeles Clippers contacted him almost immediately, offering a three-year, $60 million extension. While Paul turned down the offer, it doesn’t mean his days in Los Angeles are numbered. The 27-year-old will put off signing a new contract until next July, when he’s eligible to ink a five-year, $110-million extension with the Clippers. While there has already been speculation that Paul will bolt to join fellow 2013 unrestricted free agent Dwight Howard on a new team such as the Atlanta Hawks or Houston Rockets, the superstar point guard seems committed to the Clippers. Even though he didn’t put pen to paper, he’s going about his business as if he expects to be in Los Angeles for years to come. Over the past three days, Paul has been aggressively recruiting for the Clippers, contacting free agents and attempting to sell them on the situation. His pitch has been convincing, with talk about the promising future in Los Angeles and opportunity to compete for a championship. While most players have one foot out the door as free agency looms, Paul is working the phones and planning face-to-face meetings with potential teammates. Full Story

Odom's back with the Clippers, but what does it all mean? Lamar Odom, one of the most likable but enigmatic figures in L.A. sports history, returns to team with which he began his NBA career. It could be great, it could go bad, or it could be just plain weird. He's back and it's so cool, so weird, a TMZ headline reading: "Kris Jenner Did Not Negotiate Lamar Odom's Clipper Deal." He's one of the most likable athletes Los Angeles has come to know: talented but frustrating; charismatic yet disappointing; competitive and oh so deferential if not soft. His lifelong philosophy, he says, is to kill with kindness, and yet so often he seems to be wrapped in grief. The hope is that things will always get better for Lamar, and here we go again. If he's on his game, and how often has that been repeated in this city, he just might be the missing championship piece. But how can anyone be excited about this Los Angeles homecoming without knowing first why he fell so flat in Dallas? Or, as I put it to him for old time's sake: "Did you just wimp out on everybody in Dallas?" Read More

Free agent SG Allen will likely be offered a 2-year deal when he visits the Clippers Free-agent shooting guard Ray Allen will visit the Clippers on Friday, The Times has confirmed after speaking with two NBA executives who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The Clippers also continue to have interest in shooting guards Jason Terry and J.R. Smith, the executives said, but no visit have been planned as of yet. The Clippers continue to talk with both players’ representatives. The Clippers will have free-agent guard Jamal Crawford in Tuesday for a sit down at the team’s facility to gauge his interesting in joining the team. In Allen, a 16-year veteran who turns 37 later this month, the Clippers view him as a very good fit as well because of his tremendous outside shooting ability. The Clippers like the idea of the 6-5 Allen playing alongside the penetrating Chris Paul because he can space the floor for Blake Griffin. Allen, who had surgery on his right ankle last month, averaged 14.2 points and shot 45% from three-point range last season with the Boston Celtics. Allen has made 2,718 career three-pointers, the most in NBA history. Read more
