Popovich gives Spurs copy of Obama-Romney presidential debate Gregg Popovich gave each member of the San Antonio Spurs a DVD copy of Wednesday's presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney Gregg Popovich gave each member of the San Antonio Spurs a DVD copy of Wednesday's presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. “Of course, we have so many foreign guys on our team, they were quick to point out they can’t vote, so they shouldn’t be obligated to watch the debate,” Matt Bonner said. “Regardless, they live here, so it’s good for them to be aware.” My link

  11. Rodrigue Beaubois sprains ankle Dallas Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois sprained his left ankle in the team's 89-84 exhibition win over Alba Berlin on Saturday. Coach Rick Carlisle told reporters in Berlin that he did not know the severity of the sprain. Carlisle said he would provide an update on the condition of Beaubois, who reportedly wore a protective boot as he left the arena, when the team arrived in Barcelona, where the Mavericks will play another exhibition game Tuesday. Carlisle has said he believes this will be a breakout season for Beaubois, an athletic combo guard whose potential has been a tease since a rookie season that featured several flashes of brilliance, including a 40-point game. Beaubois averaged 8.9 points and 2.9 assists last season but played a total of only 12 playoff minutes as the Mavs were swept out of the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Beaubois' development has been stunted by a fractured left foot that he originally suffered while training with the French national team in the summer of 2010. The foot did not heal properly after surgery, prompting Beaubois to undergo a second operation. Before the Mavs left for Berlin, Beaubois noted with excitement this was the first time he had been healthy entering a training camp since his rookie season. Source

  15. Nash already providing leadership with Lakers The Lakers needed a player to take a shot. It wouldn't determine a win. But with their first practice already reaching four hours, the Lakers hardly wanted to stay in the gym any longer and perform running drills. The ticket to freedom: one player needed to make three free throws. Kobe Bryant relishes those pressure moments. But he immediately turned to Steve Nash. "I'll take that 92% free-throw shooting any day," said Bryant. Nash actually shoots 90.4% from the stripe, but the point was well taken. Nash went to the line, sank three shots and allowed his teammates to call it a day. "I didn't know I had to shoot all three, but I was happy to do it and take on the responsbility," Nash said. "We had already been out here a long time. I didn't want to make us stick around." Full Story
