Might as well make this my first post on the new site.
Year You Became a Fan: 2002-2003 maybe. It was the year before the arrival of Dwyane Wade and I had sorta started to latch onto the team because of their tough play and personality, plus I had always been a fan of two big men, 'Zo & KG.
Why You Became a Fan:
I remember reading and seeing pictures about Eddie House, Brian Grant, Rasual Butler, and watching and reading highlights about Eddie Jones and Alonzo Mourning especially as a kid, both of whom were beasts at the time. I had already been a fan of 'Zo & KG at the time, so naturally I followed both their teams, they both played with so much heart. The Heat drafted DWade the next season and the rest is history...I remember they made a push with Odom, Butler, and Alston Wade & Haslem's rookie year, but once Shaq and Damon Jones joined the team, it was just a real fun team, the team really developed a true personality and they were all fun dudes. I remember reading about all their crazy stories. Was pretty disappointed when SVG couldn't bring the Heat all the way home, but he did a great job...Riles came down and finished the job after all, with GP, White Chocolate, 'Toine, and 'Zo all together. Not to mention the hard-working Haslem, and Posey was insurmountable during the Finals as well. DWade's performance is definitely what sealed for me the fact I'd be a Heat fan forever. After that, seeing us get swept by a lowly Bulls team and then go 15-67 was hard to stomach, but I guess it all paid off.
Favorite Heat Player, All-Time:
Dwyane Wade / Alonzo Mourning / Udonis Haslem - one of the most loyal Heat players ever... under-appreciated
Favorite Heat Coach, All-Time:
Pat Riley, he embellishes this franchise, then SVG and we'll see how Erik Spoelstra proves himself here. He's done a good job getting to the playoffs the last two years now.
Favorite Heat Moment:
2006 Playoff run...pretty self-explanatory...but it was amazing watching all those veterans get that ring. It was great.
Amount of Heat Games Attended:
4-5 maybe. Live in Atlanta so I don't get to see them all the time but I try to go to a Heat/Hawks matchup at least once or twice during the season. Always root for the Heat and have been the past couple of year, many fights with local Hawks fans haha.
