The Bradley Center announced Thursday that it has selected a vendor for a new $3.2 million scoreboard that is expected to dramatically improve the fan experience for sports fans coming to the arena.

The new center-hung scoreboard, which will be ready for the start of the 2010-'11 Milwaukee Bucks' season, will have considerably more display space than the current scoreboard, which was installed in 1995. The new board will have 2,662 square feet of space, compared with 947 square feet on the old board.

There will be more pixels as well. The new board will have 3.5 million pixels; the current board has 229,880.

The new board will have 12 high-resolution video panels, including three wrap-around LED marquees. That compares with the current board, which has only four standard-resolution panels, and eight low-resolution graphic displays.

"You will see an image that will be eye-popping," said Steve Costello, president of the Bradley Center. "It's going to feel like you're 10 feet away from your big-screen television at home. Virtually everything is a display."

The new board is 29 feet tall, 32 feet wide and weighs approximately 50,000 pounds.
