Warren2ThaG
http://www.nba.com/media/act_wesley_matthews.jpgFree agent Wesley Matthews meets with Blazers------------------"The Trail Blazers on Thursday evening met with free agent guard Wesley Matthews, who became a starter last season as a rookie with Utah after going undrafted out of Marquette. "He fills a need," team president Larry Miller said. "He plays hard, is a good defender and is a decent shooter. But mostly, he's a hard-nosed defender, and that's a need for us." Miller said the Blazers are not yet prepared to make an offer to Matthews, who is a restricted free agent, meaning Utah has the right to match. "We are exploring all options we have out there," Miller said."---http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2010/07/free_agent_wesley_matthews_mee.html
Flight
PLEASE sign him... I didn't realize he only had a one year deal with Utah.
YugoRocketsFan
Please go to the Blazers, it'll make Utah even weaker.
Warren2ThaG
Free agent swingman Wesley Matthews has signed a five-year, $34 million offer sheet with the Blazers, according to his agent. The deal is frontloaded (a whopping $9.2 million next year) but not necessarily "toxic," and the Jazz have a week to match the offer. Matthews is a pesky defender and his offensive game is still growing -- he has 3-point range and averaged 13.2 points in the playoffs last season.---http://www.rotoworld.com/content/Headlines.aspx?sport=NBA&hl=137716 watch Utah still match like they did Millsap, haha. Flight
Smart move to make it a frontloaded deal, it'll pressure Utah even more... super overpaid next year, but as he gets better, he'll get cheaper. Strange, but hey. If we get him, I'll be stoked.

Flight
didnt blazers get rid of a similar player in Webster?athletic, solid defender and 3 point shooter Yeah, but Webster needs more freedom in the offense really, I mean he got his 3 point chances and occasional ISOs and alley oops, but Matthews fits in without the ball much. He's a good FT shooter, and creates contact a lot more than Martell. He's just as good a shooter, not quite as athletic, but more importantly a much better on ball defender. Webster was solid, but he gambled a little too much. The fouls he commited were stupid fouls. Similar players, but I think Wes is an improvement with more potential. Newman
If Utah loses him they are in trouble, they already lost Boozer, this could push them out of the playoffs Not to mention they lost Korver as well and Ronnie Brewer mid- last season. With no replacements for them as of now, that's 4 players in the rotation gone for nothing. I believe in Jerry Sloan, but he need more players to work with. Just pulling up D-Leaguers like Gaines and Jeffers won't be enough.
Warren2ThaG
so he'll be a Blazer for sure?
