NEW YORK – US national-team midfielder Benny Feilhaber is on his way to MLS.

The 2010 World Cup player, who was recently a member of Danish second-division club AGF Aarhus, has agreed to an MLS contract just before Friday's international transfer deadline and will be assigned by the MLS allocation rankings as per league rules on returning US national-team players.

Chivas USA currently sit atop the allocation rankings (see below) and have until Tuesday, April 19 at 5 pm ET to evaluate whether to use their allocation position to claim Feilhaber. The Goats may also choose to take the former UCLA player and trade him. However, selecting Feilhaber would drop Chivas USA to the bottom of the allocation rankings.

A Chivas USA spokesman told MLSsoccer.com on Friday that the club would not make a decision on Feilhaber until the conclusion of the team's match at Vancouver on Saturday at the very earliest.

The move to MLS involves a transfer fee which will be incorporated into the budget charge. However, the budget charge represented by the player's contract and transfer fee will not make Feilhaber a Designated Player.

Its been reported by the Washington Post that Chivas may pass or trade the top allocation spot. If Chivas passes then he will likely be heading to Philly.

Houston owns the 4th spot, I imagine they are working the phones right now.
