Kanter to play for Turkish national team; Okur not on roster

Recommended Posts

Jazz center Enes Kanter has officially been named to Turkey's 2011 EuroBasket roster.

Kanter will join Hedo Turkoglu (Orlando), Omer Asik (Chicago), Semih Erden (Cleveland) and Ersan Ilyasova (Milwaukee) on the team.

The tournament is scheduled August 31-September 18 in Lithuania. If Kanter plays, it could mark his first significant 5-on-5 action in more than a year.

Jazz center Mehmet Okur is not listed on Turkey's roster.

Not really all that suprising, but I do remember that there was some tension between the national team and Kanter so I wouldn't say that it was a guarantee that he would be on the team. It should be nice to see him finally play in some organized, competitive basketball.
