Grant Hill now on the radar and wants to be part of the crew

Scroll down to the part about Grant Hill and ignore the dummy who thinks the Clipps would trade Blake, Bledsoe and minn pick for Howard.

http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/david_aldridge/12/05/morning-tip-chris-paul-future/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1

If they manage to land Prince and have him backed up by Grant Hill, the SF slot on this team is suddenly formidable. I like how he thinks keeping Blake on his rookie scale as opposed to trading for Howard's max contract is a failing on Sterling's part, as opposed to just common sense.

Trey Thompkins Making Impression:

http://www.hoopsworld.com/nba-pm-lopez-injury-a-wrinkle-in-the-howard-situation

Honestly, it’s a bad situation for NJ who lose their starting center and/or their main bait for Howard. The question is – will Lopez be out 4-6 weeks or 2-3 months – big difference.

It doesn’t feel like the Magic are ready to trade Howard – but LA would be higher on the list in the short term if for some reason Orlando feels compelled to act sooner than later. That said – I expect they act patiently.

Also, Kobe’s teammates expect him to play on Sunday despite wrist injury.

Andrew Goudelock with Lakers and Trey Thompkins with Clippers are both making quick impressions on their coaches.

Clippers signing Reggie Evans – willing to go into season a little small up front on bench. No other moves planned initially.

Finally – Clippers were under the cap – Lakers weren’t – that’s what LAL couldn’t make a waiver claim on Billups while LAC got him for a pretty penny.

Stat Of The Day (2/29): +/- Likes Blake

Stat: Blake Griffin leads all players in unadjusted raw+/- this season. His team is 24.88 points better with him on the floor, over five points better than second place Ryan Anderson.

Take: It makes sense the Clippers would be so much better on offense with Griffin on the floor. He does, after all, rank ninth in the league in points per game and draw the attention of the defense whether he has the ball or not.

What’s interesting about this is that it paints a picture of Blake being a bigger factor on the other side of the floor than he’s given credit for. Often chided for his lack of effort and focus on defense, Griffin is considered an average defender at best. That the Clippers are 24 points better with him on the floor can’t just be an indicator of his offensive prowess, though. Clearly, he’s doing something right on defense, and the common notion that he’s a minus in this regard should be revisited (though playing the majority of his minutes with Paul and Jordan is sure to help his defensive numbers).

Thanks for posting the links for Griffins interview. I watched/heard them and was happy to do so. I can't wait for Clippers March Madness - 20 games in 31 days! It is critical the coach has a game plan to keep this team healthy and communicating together.

Tradition has joined forces with UNDRCRWN to honor future Rookie of the Year, Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers. The shirt features Griffin’s first name on the front with the L and the A made to stand out. The Undrcrwn logo is also placed on the A along with a modified Clippers logo on the back to commemorate the collaboration.

^ I got you! ;) In other news -- Travis Leslie Assigned to Bakersfield Jam:

The L.A. Clippers announced today that they have assigned rookie guard Travis Leslie to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBDL. Press Release

LESLIE RECALLED FROM NBDL’S BAKERSFIELD JAM:

3/12/2012

http://i44.tinypic.com/346uj4y.jpg

The Los Angeles Clippers today announced that they have recalled rookie guard Travis Leslie from the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

In his four game stint with the Jam, Leslie tallied 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 21.0 minutes per game.

The 47th overall selection in the 2011 NBA Draft, Leslie has averaged 1.5 points and 1.0 rebounds in eight games played for the Clippers this season.

I doubt it's for depth purposes, I smell a trade coming.

Eric Pincus – 03/13/12 1:00 a.m. EST

While some sources are claiming the Los Angeles Clippers are in talks with the Utah Jazz for Raja Bell, those close to the team deny Los Angeles has any interest in the veteran guard.

The Clippers would like to add in a defensive-minded two guard who can score, but Bell doesn’t appear to be on their wish list. Raja’s $3.2 million salary fits easily into LA’s $3.8 million trade exception and wouldn’t cost a first-round pick but given Bell’s age and $3.5 million salary next year, he just doesn’t appeal to the Clippers. The younger C.J. Miles might be more attractive (also at $3.7 million a player who fits in LA’s exception) but he’s probably not someone the Clippers would give up Eric Bledsoe or a first-round pick to attain.

Sources tell HOOPSWORLD that the Utah Jazz and New Jersey Nets have discussed deal that would swap Miles for pieces like Anthony Morrow and Johan Petro. The Nets would like to trim off as much salary as possible for the offseason, when they hope to attain the services of center Dwight Howard. Miles has an expiring deal while both Morrow and Petro have another at a combined $7.5 million.

It remains to be seen what the Jazz intend to do with their $10.9 million trade exception from the Mehmet Okur trade but they are a team with tremendous flexibility.

CHAUNCEY BILLUPS RETURNS TO CLIPPER SIDELINE:

LOS ANGELES–“Suit it and boot it, baby” were the first words Chauncey Billups said before answering questions at Saturday’s press conference prior to the Clippers game at Staples Center against the Rockets. Billups sat at the podium in front of the Los Angeles media for the first time since tearing his left Achilles tendon on Feb. 6 against the Orlando Magic. He was wearing a blue suit, white striped shirt, and large white walking boot on his foot.

“I’m just happy to kind of be back in the loop,” Billups said. “It’s definitely bittersweet because I would just like to be walking in [the locker room] putting my jersey on, of course, going out there and fighting with the guys. Obviously, I can’t do that. On the flip side, it’s really good to see the guys, to see them in there, smiling, just as happy to see me as I am to see them.”

Wow, this is interesting I have never seen full Clippers games on Youtube before. Will they be adding more games or how does the process work?

Points over Par (PoP) is the points based version of Wins Produced (WP). It is a metric that tells the expected number of points a player adds to their team while they are on the court. We've provided per 48 minutes (PoP/48), per games (PoP/G) and Wins Produced (WP).

I watched the game last night and was surprised at the end to notice the Hornets had 27 turnovers! The defense really stepped it up in absence of Mo Williams. I think the Clippers have reached their low for the season and now it is time for them to reach their peak.
