2011-'12: CP3's Game-Winner vs Philly

(February 11th, 2012 // LAC @ PHI 78:77)

http://i43.tinypic.com/f1a90o.png

Paul’s careening game-clinching shot that upended the Atlantic Division-leading 76ers was something unusually spectacular.

“That was incredible,” 76ers head coach Doug Collins said. “Andre Iguodala played him, couldn’t play him any better. He hits a fade away jump shot. There must have been three or four times they fell on the floor with the ball and scrummed it out, and got it out, and it was a wonderful play.”

The play was initiated with an inbound pass from Caron Butler to Paul with 18 seconds left and the Clippers trailing by one. w

What came next was hardly by design. Paul dribbled into the lane, being hounded by Iguodala, one of the game’s premier perimeter defenders, and after picking up his dribbled dropped a bounce pass at the feet of Blake Griffin, who was posting Elton Brand on the right block. The ball bounced between Griffin’s legs, he stretched to pick it up and as he turned, began falling to the floor.

“That’s one of the weirdest plays I’ve ever been a part of in my basketball career,” Brand said. “Blake Griffin’s on the ground with the ball on his knees. I actually thought he was going to shoot it from the ground. We have to get to those loose balls. Then when Chris got the ball back again, Andre played great defense on him the first time, but Chris was just able to hit that amazing shot at the end.”

From his backside Griffin had the presence of mind to rifle a desperation pass out top to Kenyon Martin. The new Clipper big man turned to his right and handed it back to Paul with about nine seconds on the clock.

“That almost turned out to be ugly,” Paul added. “I threw the ball between Blake Griffin’s legs. I thought it would be a turnover, so thank you Blake Griffin for diving for the ball. Without him, we don’t win the game. I looked up at the clock and saw that I had a second chance at life. I had missed like two or three of those in the fourth quarter with the shot clock running that hit the back of the rim. Got to keep shooting. Luckily it finally went in."

As if in tune with each tick, Paul dribbled Iguodala from the right wing into the lane, stopped just past the free throw line, stumbled slightly as he turned away from the hoop, stepped back to 16-feet and drilled a perfect fadeaway over his long-armed defender. Three and two tenths of a second remained. Clippers 78, Sixers 77. Relive this amazing shot:

2004-'05: Maggette's Double-OT Off-Balance Game-Winner vs Miami

(January 14th, 2005 // LAC - MIA 114:112** -- F // **2 OT's)

Corey Maggette's off-balance 23-footer with 0.5 second left in the second overtime gave the Los Angeles Clippers a 114-112 victory over the Heat. His dramatic shot from the right sideline overshadowed a 39-pt, 10-reb performance by Miami's Shaquille O'Neal.:

Lots of pressure, 23-footer, fadeaway, double OT and falling out of bounds on the right sideline with Shandon Anderson in his face... Corey Maggette probably made the biggest shot of his career (so far):

“I remember a similar situation in high school when I hit a shot in the last 2 seconds for us to win a big shootout,” said Maggette, who scored 11 of his 28 points in the two overtime periods. But that was the biggest shot I’ve hit with the Clippers. That was the shot that won the game for our team. It was a lucky play and it was great for our team.”

The Clippers are my favorite team to watch, I liked how they played last night against Atlanta it was nice to see some of the starters get some rest. I wish I had some of the game winning shot videos save on my computer :( thanks for posting these it brings back positive memories!

(April 29th, 2012 // LAC @ MEM 99:98)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIjoUTDDnIY

After being down by 27 points with 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter the Clippers mount an incredible comeback against the Memphis Grizzlies to take game 1 of their first round playoff series 99-98. The Clippers comeback tied the playoff record for largest deficit overcome in the shot-clock era, and also set a Clipper record -- regular season or playoff -- for the biggest 4th-qtr comeback in franchise history!!!

Here's also Quentin Richardson making every field goal for the Clippers in the 1st quarter. I've never seen anything like it where one player makes all of his team's field goals in the 1st quarter, with that many points scored in the 1st.

Maybe it can happen when a team scores less than 10 points in the 1st, but not with this many points.
