Ken Berger: Lakers front office in disarray

I have a hard time believing that. Minnesota would still play Gasol in the frontcourt, and stick Pekovic on the bench (since he's only logging around 24 minutes a game anyway), and the Gasol/Rubio connection would be lethal because Pau is also a very, very good passing big man, which only helps Love (and he's one as well).

Also, it's Chris Broussard making that statement. I never know when to believe or disregard what he says.

The wolves dont need gasol .The wolves need a shooting guard. Getting rid of beasely solves up two criterias. first it dumps salary by perhaps getting a couple draft picks, and second, they can then use them or other pieces to go out and trade for a shooting guard. thirdly, the wolves would insert derrick williams in that spot where he could blossom in to a decent small forward or just play back up PF. The lakers will have to give the wolves what the wolves want though. So wolves hold all the power here. Wolves do not need to trade. Wolves are better team without beasely, i can see them sending him away for draft picks. The Wolves seem pretty comfortable with their C/PF combination. and it wouldn't make financial sense or basketball sense to acquire Gasol to have him play at his second-best position. Plus the Lakers strengths are the same as the Wolves' strengths, but much more expensive.

The Wolves are really set on getting Gasol, and I have a feeling they are going to try and offer us Derrick Williams and Michael Beasley for Gasol, Goudelock and a first round pick (and Minny includes fillers, of course).

I really don't like that deal. Makes us a faster team, but Williams is too big of a question mark for me right now, and while I would deal our TPE for Beasley in a heartbeat, I wouldn't trade a true big man for him.

Above all that, I actually like Goudelock, and a first-rounder in this upcoming draft would be great.

lol i wouldnt trade gasol for williams and beasley, let alone throwing in goudelock and a freaking first round pick. we would be absolutely raped in that scenario.

His best position, statistically.

And the Wolves need more than just a two-guard, which is something they can't get from us anyway.

If they really wanted a two-guard, though, they would trade Beasley in a package deal elsewhere, not give him away for a TPE that they would have trouble using.

Saying they don't want Gasol is dismissing the fact that they wanted him in December...because nothing has changed since. Pekovic may be playing well, but he's not starting material, and he's playing limited minutes. I doubt Rubio has changed his stance on playing with a guy he played with for years in Spain, and if Kahn was willing to give away Derrick Williams and a pick for Gasol in December, not knowing if Williams would come out and tear up the league, I'm pretty sure he's still ready to make a deal for him.

Not happening with the emergence of Nikola Pekovic. I remember reading somewhere that the Wolves have backed off in the Pau talks since Pekovic is appearing to be the long-term frontcourt mate for Kevin Love.

I don't see why they wouldn't want to bring him off the bench, seeing that he can score the ball so well and Minny's second unit would thrive with him...but I digress.

Good thing, though, because I don't want Gasol traded to Minnesota without Love or Rubio in the deal, and I know that won't happen.

Doesn't matter, just mean he likes taking shots, something that we need. He can create his own shot. Of course he is not going to take that many shots with Kobe playing along side of him, but pretty sure we need it when it's just Bynum and Beasley on the floor and our only two scores, when Pau and Kobe are on the bench. Plus he is still 23 years old! He can improve in that area. Plus i feel like he'll have a whole new attitude and need to adjust to how we're playing. Add some scoring from the SF position.

What? This makes no sense. His GOD-AWFUL TS% is not a product of him taking a lot of shots...it's a product of his poor decision making.

And the Lakers do NOT need another iso scorer...Kobe is taking more shots than anyone else in the league (doing it all pretty much in iso situations), Bynum does all of his damage off iso's from the post (where he doesn't pass from), and Gasol does his damage off iso's from the low and high post. They either need someone to set the offense up, or someone who can play off-ball and knock down all the open 3pt attempts they'd be given.

Right now, the league is FILLED with talented PG's, yet the Lakers have probably the worst starting PG in the league (Fisher, Blake...both fit that statement). Knowing that there are so many of them out there who can be an upgrade, that is where their TPE should go to. That is, unless Gasol can net them Deron Williams or something, in which case then they'd have to use the TPE on a PF.

NBA needs to start trusting these young guys. It's like if they don't play awesome the first year you cut him the next. Hell look at Jeremy Lin.

In 4 seasons Beasley has started way over half his games-played and is taking over 17 FGA's per 36min. How in the hell can you spin it to show that Beasley just hasn't been given a chance? It is NOTHING like Jeremy Lin.

Well he still young so he can improve his decision making hell look at odom he was a poor decision maker. And I didn't say he was nothing like Lin just said that he need to be on the right team and be giving a chance. And yes they do need another scorer that can create their own shot. Kobe damn sure can't be the only one. Definitely when we can't hit our jumpers, then that makes it easier to guard Pau and Bynum. Plus he needs to get better, yes he has flaws but he's still 23 years old if he tries he can improve and get better.

Yea I get what you're saying but only reason why they had him start or play a lot of mins with Heat, because he was a really good scorer, and at the time him and d wade was the only scorers on the team really. Didn't try to get get him better or may be that was because of his attitude. Only played one year with the Heat I think. Plus he then got traded for two second-round draft picks. Twolves doesn't want to play and and work with him may be because of his attitude I don't know seem like he doesn't really have a problem or a attitude now. But I do think he is a little selfish, which is great because Kobe was/still is the same way and just shows that he wants to win. They're trying to get rid of him But, all I'm saying his put him on the right team and develop him and tell him what he is doing wrong or needs to get better at and he'll mold into a great player and I think Lakers can do that. I agree with a lot of stuff you're saying though he does have flaws but he can improve on them, he still young and needs to fit in on a team and stay their for a while so he can improve. Pretty sure Kobe can help this kid out just like he did with Odom, Pau. Because Odom is kind of similar to Michale Beasley but Odom is a lot more athletic and can handle the ball better and all around player too, but both has the versatility to play both 3 and 4 off the bench. Both was a poor decision maker, chucks up shots (Beasley takes the cake on this though lol) And both wasn't a great Defender (odom was better though), Beasley size/athleticism/scoring is something we can use for sure. He can guard 6-5 through 6-11, which is something Odom contributed to very well. Our interior defense is good enough to whereas we don't need something outstandingly quick at the 3, yet a body to guard the perimeter for the dual scoring threats like Durant. All I'm saying is I see a lot of potential and with the right players like Kobe and D Fish around him, They can turn this dude around. He can develop to a better passer which he has shown this year. Just like Bynum is turning into a better passer so can he and be a better team player and decision maker, better three point shooter. Plus has gotten thinner over the off season and he is much faster and quicker.
