RD1 GM2: LA Clippers at Memphis

Recommended Posts

Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro is looking at starting either Nick Young, who scored a team-high 19 points Sunday night, or Bobby Simmons with Caron Butler out with a broken left hand. Young keyed the Clippers' comeback with three 3s, and he said he expects the Grizzlies to keep a closer eye on him in the next game after the Clippers' rally in the last one.

Nick Young it is -- Nick Young likely to start at Memphis in place of Caron Butler

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A three-lane street here separates the hotel where the Clippers are staying and the FedEx Forum where they're playing. Nick Young has made that short trek earlier than some of his teammates in the last two days. He's trying to get ready.

The Clippers guard is expected to start in place of injured starting small forward Caron Butler when his team plays Game 2 of its Western Conference first-round playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. The Clippers lead the series, 1-0.

Starting would be a different role for Young, who started just three games for the Clippers after coming to the team in a trade March 15. But he's has been effective off the bench for much of the regular season.

Hope Nick Young gon' keep on nailing those monster 3-pointers Reggie Miller-style again (three in one minute)!!

Really good game. Started to get a little chippy late in the 2nd half which is always good. CP3 balled it up but Memphis hit shots when they needed to. Mayo was great offensively and especially defensively, he had stretches where he completely locked up CP3. Game 3 is the game I'm looking forward to the most by far between all the series going on right now, definitely rooting for the Clipps though.
