Ronaldo > Messi..

Yep, by far.

I'm quite curious a to why you guys think that considering you guys have probably been following soccer for longer than I have (about two years).

Both are clearly the top players in the world at the moment, but I'm inclined to give the edge to Messi.

Well.. its kind of weird because I dont look at it statistically.  I go by what I've seen from all the Clasicos and other games I've watched from both teams.

I'm a huge Madrid fan but I also watch alot of games from barca because of the rivalry and Champions League matches. (My favorite player is probably Pirlo but thats a different argument :) )

Just for an example.. Youtube videos of highlights from both throughout their career.  Messi will have many goals where he is just finesse and goes by people.  His goals will be mostly his left footed chips, left footed to the left corner, or even those like against Milan from the center of the box.  I dont think he has a very dangerous right foot and he can be guarded if the team has an organized defense that can contain everybody around him.  He has had Iniesta and Xavi in the midfield who are two of the best midfielders in the last 20 years as well as a completely dominant defense.  The system he is in also is basically 75% barcelona possession with him being the lone scorer most of the time.

Ronaldo on the other hand has done it in La Liga as well as back in ManU in a VERY physical EPL.  I dont know if Messi would thrive the same way on a team in the EPL where he will get literally manhandled by defenders.  Ronaldo is just physically stronger and has more power in every way.  I have seen him score many times with left foot, right foot, headers, etc.  Youtube his shots for ManU when he just blasts it in a second from 40 yards or even for Madrid.  He has one of the most unique quick shots with prob more power than anybody.

I just think Ronaldo is more of a dynamic gamechanger that would flourish in any system or team.  (a lot like Ibrahimovic..)

Yeah, couldn't agree more. Messi would get killed in the EPL, in my opinion. Also, Cristiano Ronaldo is the more versatile player.

Oh, and I don't think  Ibrahimović would flourish in any system or team, but that's a different discussion.

That's one argument I've heard quite a bit, but I feel like Messi would be able to adjust just fine. I mean he plays just fine in the Champions League against other teams, granted that's a small amount of games and not a whole season.

Well, considering Ronaldo is about half a foot taller than Messi, of course he's going to be better in the air. As far as power goes, yeah, I totally agree with you there. Thing is though, Messi relies on natural ability to get past players, while Ronaldo mostly relies on his pace in combination with that lethal step-over.

This is where I disagree with you. When it comes to being a team player/game changer, Messi is my guy. At times Ronaldo becomes selfish and really tries to change the game on his own. While he often times does it, there are just as many instances where he doesn't. These often come in the form of shots from ridiculous angles/distances. Yeah, his strike is like a rocket, but often times he'll have teammates who are better placed.

Don't get me wrong, Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world. He does everything one would need to do in order to be classified as the best, but has just one problem and that is that Messi does it better.

Well Shaliq... Ibrahimovic is probably the fastest striker for his size and easily the most skilled. This makes him so dangerous.  He can overpower most defenders and just man handle them and yet he is very precise with his shots and scores in BIG games.  He moves team to team a lot but he scores everywhere.  He single handedly beat England by scoring 4 goals and an IMPOSSIBLE bicycle kick last year... So much skill its a shame that he is just crazy in his head and cant stay on one team.

I'd laugh if Juventus beat München

The club's name is Bayern. Nobody (in Europe, and the rest of the world, except for North America maybe) refers to the club by the city name.

Anyhow, I'm glad my boy Drogba's made his way into the 1/4-Finals again!!!

Relax, bro, all I'm saying is - it's kinda weird, esp. after hearing everyone call it Bayern for all my life. Besides, there are at least three big soccer clubs based in München (Munich)... I realize Bayern is the only one of them currently in the CL, yet calling the club München sounds weird.

You went with the favorites in all 4 matchups.. there has to be at least one upset.

Malaga is a dangerous team with a so-so defense. They just lost to Madrid 5-2 but scoring two goals against Madrid is still an accomplishment. Dortmund is really solid though so I think they will stomp them. Their defense is too organized and solid.

Barcelona and PSG will be a very interesting one. PSG has soo much talent and like I stated earlier, if Ibrahimovic comes motivated against his former team... it will be fun to watch.  I still think Barca will prove too strong but you never know.  This is the upset I'm hoping for unless we can see a Madrid Barca final.

Madrid and Galatasaray should be an easy one.. I'll be mad if Madrid loses this lol.

I agree with you though that the most likely upset is the Juventus and Bayern game.  Bayern is a lot like Germany's international team whereas if they struggle or get scored against first, they can be in trouble.  Juventus has realllly quick RB and LB with Pirlo in the middle to orchestrate everything.  I'm really excited and hoping or for an upset.  (Also Giovinco is one of the fastest players I've seen, has Theo Walcott speed)

Is it mainly because of CR7 or you actually support Los Merengues?

I was a fan of Madrid ever since Kaka moved over and I started following soccer more and more.  I really like Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos as well as Ozil and the rest of the team.

I guess I havent watched it enough to be a huge fan of the history of the team and what Madrid stands for but I like all the players they have now and they are my favorite.  A lot of young talent... Varane should be a BEAST defender for a long time along side Sergio.
