Last night during the Buckeyes-Badgers game, he was in attendance and said he is aiming to come back for the 2013-2014 season. There have been rumors that the Cavs and Heat are leading the way, but he hasn't commented. So where do you think would work best for Oden? I think Cleveland and Miami are definitely good fits, but I wonder how much Miami will be able to pay, because I'm sure other teams will offer more. Cleveland, meanwhile, will have more money to offer and potentially more playing time depending on the futures of Speights and Varejao. Other teams I see working would be: Oklahoma City Thunder: He could potentially be a great backup big man to Ibaka and Perkins. Collison plays hard, but the Thunder need another big off the bench, and he would be a big upgrade over Thabeet. Chicago Bulls: He would add to an already solid frontline of Boozer and Noah, and might replace the size they lost in Asik. Minnesota Timberwolves: They haven't had a legit center in awhile, and it could start a new beginning for Kevin Love. It all depends on what he values: money, playing time, or winning. There's even that "home" factor, which does give Cleveland a bit of an advantage. I think it'd be awesome to have a Buckeye on the Cavs, with redemption on his mind. The Cavs are ready to make a big move in the NBA. They've been quiet for three years. Heck, if Oden somehow feels LeBron may be coming back to Cleveland, can you imagine a trio of them three? In Miami, the scrutiny, the media, etc... it would just be so stressful for a guy who hasn't played in years, and might not be up to par. Not to mention the being close to home factor. In Cleveland, he'll have a more significant role, but will get paid four times as much. Closer to home. In Miami, he'll have a lesser role, but will be paid league minimum. Better chance to win a ring. Playing a bigger role could be a bad thing for him...but having a bigger paycheck is huge for an injury-prone player. I think it also comes down to - does he feel comfortable playing on a team that will hold him accountable, and he is expected to win? If not, Cleveland is also another reason besides the money. kingfish Posted February 1, 2013 Report Share Posted February 1, 2013 I see Miami being a perfect fit. They need a defensive anchor, and hes a good low post presence offensively. If hes smart, he could come play for the minimum, and maybe be instrumental in helping Miami win a championship. That would boost his value tremendously, especially if teams want to pry him away from Miami. This is assuming hes healthy of course which I highly doubt.
