Celtics guard Eddie House, after a long deliberation that pushed his decision to today’s deadline, decided to exercise his player option and will remain with the team for next season.

As a result, the nine-year veteran will roam the 3-point line to the tune of approximately $2.9 million next season.

Though agent Mark Bartlestein recently told the Herald that House had “out-performed his contract,” he admitted today that the market was shaping up as a difficult one -- especially for a role player like House. The NBA’s salary cap is expected to drop from $72 million to approximately $69 million, putting a strain on many of the already-jammed budgets in the league.

Good news for Celtics fans. I bet they were getting a bit worried.
