Gardner signed a non-guaranteed contract before the start of training camp, and wasn't expected to make the team because the team is loaded with players in the backcourt. Gardner made one appearance this preseason. He scored two points and grabbed one rebound in four minutes Tuesday against the Washington Wizards. The 6-5 shooting guard, who has previously played with Chicago and Atlanta, leaves the Grizzlies roster with 16 players. Veteran guard Marko Jaric is under contract but not with the team.
