Doc
Keep. Allen has done wonders for Boston. I stillthink he should of won Finals MVP over Pierce. Allen saved their asses too many times.
La Bomba
They still need to keep him. His shooting opens up the floor so much for Boston. It would be a mistake to get a ball dominating penatrator like Monta Ellis.

Hero
I have a question though, and I hope you don't think of me as being ignorant or anything, but why are the Celtics considering trading Ray Allen? I think he's been doing a remarkable job with the team has he not?
Cleveland's Finest
Honestly, I don't think he's the problem as much as KG is. But if it's him that has to go, then so be it. They need to make some move before it's too late. Trade him for Martin or Ellis while you still can. Check my Stats
If they trade him for Kevin Martin or Monta Ellis I guarantee they will not win a championship with this core again. He is also one of the Celtics who has remained relatively healthy over the years playing 70+ games each year. He is in a slump right now but I don't think there is anyone who could fit their SG role better than he does. Re-signing him is a whole other question though. I mean what does he want? He probably wants one more decent deal like 3 years but the C's can't really afford that. If they are sure they cannot re-sign him to what they want then dealing him makes sense. I hope for Allen's sake he doesn't think he is worth much more than the MLE anymore. Edited February 8, 2010 by travesy3
Cleveland's Finest
Honestly though, I'd rather they trade Garnett for Stoudemire somehow. Then they could sign someone in the off season if Amare can't come back. Gernett just isn't as impactful as he used to be where if he's playing you know he can get a win for his team. Check my Stats
Why on earth would the Suns trade Amare for KG? Lol... Anyways I was convinced this was still the best team in the East when they are healthy, but with their recent play (like 10-12 since Christmas?) I am not so sure. I don't think any trade at this point can make this team any better than they currently are. If they make a move I think it should wait until the off-season. Sun Tzu
I'd say keep Allen. He can still play pretty well if you ask me.

Owner Real Deal Posted February 9, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted February 9, 2010 You keep him, because if you guys had Monta or K-Mart instead of Allen during that first-round series against the Bulls, you would've been done by Game 6. Rondo may be the best player on the Celtics right now (and he's definitely playing like it), but I actually think Ray Allen is arguably the most important, as he spreads the floor better than anyone else on that team, and his off-the-ball play is still among the best in NBA history. kingfish
Keep him for now. This year he is shooting a career worst in 3 pt %, also his lowest scoring year since his rookie season. Hes got a good expiring contract anyways, so they can use that this summer. They might as well be loyal back to him and keep him for the rest of this season and see how it pans out. The offers they are getting right now I dont think are any good. Kevin Martin, Ellis, mehh those guys are not players Boston needs, they could probably get someone better with the money they get back from keeping Allen. Newman
Keep him. He's still a good shooter no matter what and the Celtics need more of those players, not less.
bravenewworld
Trade for youth. If the rumors are true the Celtics have been getting some decent offers or suggestions for him and they really need to pull the trigger on one of them. In the KG/Allen trade the Celtics really shot themselves in the feet when considering the future and as it stands, 2 years from now they will have Rondo, Perkins and a bunch of guys using walkers to get up and down the court. Was the KG/Allen trade worth it? Of course, but now they need to move on and face the fact that their little experiment is over they need to start a new one. Especially while Allen's expiring contract holds so much value.
ChosenOne
Keep him for the season, so you can have more cap space this offseason.
bravenewworld
Keep him for the season, so you can have more cap space this offseason. Thats kind of why this is a big deal. They will not have any kind of cap space until 2013, which then they will have Rondo signed and that is about it. In 2012 they will have like 20 freed' up but next season they will be massively over the cap.
Hero
because he has an expiring contract.I hardly think that's reason enough to trade such an important piece to your team. Ray Allen is arguably one of the best on-ball defenders in the league, and is still a prolific scorer and clutch shooter. Far better than the self-proclaimed "One of the Better Shooters in NBA History." If I'd known better, I'd be thinking that KG is the one giving the headaches to Boston now. Rajon Rondo
It was dumb to hang onto the expiring deal. I don't think Ray Allen is going to win or lose a title for the Celts this year, should have taken advantage of the asset while we could.
