The New Orleans Hornets unveiled special Mardi Gras uniforms on Wednesday. You know, third jersey alternates. The busy uniforms will be worn annually during the Mardi Gras and feature many designs inspired by the beautiful city of N'awlins and the Carnival tradition. They also smell like gin.

Based on the two-tone template used for the 2008 NBA All-Star Game held in New Orleans — some of the hometown accents include: the wild purple-green-gold scheme; the word-mark "NOLA" abbreviation across the front; funky ornamental side patterns based on NO's rich heritage of wrought iron architecture; and the Fleur-de-Bee and trumpet logos on the back.

But the best part of the uniform has to be the inclusion of the famous Mardi Gras beads which make up that polka dot-looking trim. (Here, take a closer look.) It's a pretty cool addition (...). The Hornets will rock the new look for four games in early February.

They aren't as bad as i thought they'd be, but they are still ugly.

That shows you how low my expectations for them were. Apparently Carter liked seeing them, scoring 48.
