I can recharge my cell phone, mouse, and PS3 controller, but my computer USB ports won't work. It won't recognized any devices, but I can recharge devices. OS: Windows XP

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

*Waits for Real and Lkr* -_-

1) Answer Lkr's question.

2) Does it seem to take a long time charging up your PS3 controller or your phone? Longer than usual, at least?

3) Are you restarting your computer with the mouse or speakers plugged in?

1. Laptop.

2. Nope, everything works fine except the mouse, speakers, and external HD won't work. The mouse light is on, but the mouse doesn't work.

3. I restarted the computer with and without the mouse and speakers and it still doesn't work.

Edit: I also uninstalled all the USB ports, so Windows can reinstalled them, after the next start up, but it still doesn't work.

Update your system BIOS, update Windows, and run the Windows file checker.

It sounds like Lkr could be right, especially if the stuff above doesn't work. You ruled out the mouse by using speakers that won't work. You ruled out driver issues by reinstalling the drivers.

Not a good sign, really.

^ I have no choice, but to buy a new laptop because the laptop stopped working a few days ago.

I only get the HP logo, when I turn the computer on and windows won't start. No point in spending hundreds of dollars on this laptop. :(
