  1. NEW YORK -- The Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, surpassing the 1983 finale of "M*A*S*H" to become the most-watched program in television history.

The Nielsen Co. estimated Monday that 106.5 million people watched the New Orleans Saints upset the Indianapolis Colts. That beats the "M*A*S*H" finale, which had 105.97 million viewers in an era when there were fewer television sets.

Compelling story lines involving the city of New Orleans and its recovery from Hurricane Katrina and the quest for a second Super Bowl ring for Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning propelled the viewership.

The game also obliterated the previous record viewership for a Super Bowl -- last year's game between Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers in which 98.7 million people watched.

That was likely welcome news among advertisers, who purchased nearly 48 minutes of ads for the game -- the most for any Super Bowl.

    Wow.

  2. The game went by incredibly fast. Both halves just flew by. That onside kick was one of the gutsiest calls I can ever remember on this big a stage. Unbelievable. Great, great call by Sean Payton. Drew Brees was OUTSTANDING tonight. Tied the Super Bowl record with 32 completions and the 2nd highest completion percentage with 82% or so. If there was ever any doubt whether or not he was on Manning/Brady or anyone else's level, that doubt has been removed. I'm extremely happy for the Saints and their fans, and especially Drew Brees (former Charger - glad he got a ring). That interception from Porter was just awesome, by the way. It's going to be the longest celebration ever down in New Orleans.

WHO DAT!!!!! DA SAINTS, DAT'S WHO!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to the Saints organization and their fans.
