Something I noticed in the Bible
GamerGuy replied to Real Deal's topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
Gotcha. Yes, He's given a lot time for more people to repent, and whether it's 7,000 years or more I can't say. As for the last verse you posted, the darkness is referring to an unbeliever's moral state and separation from God, but as Christians we don't have to worry about the darkness because we'll be with God. God calls for us to be alert and sober (self-disciplined), and while we don't know exactly when the tribulation will happen, it's not going to take us by surprise when it does. -
Something I noticed in the Bible

I think I can answer these fairly well. In the previous verse (6), Peter was saying that God demonstrates the truthfulness of His word, and that He has intervened in dramatic ways in the past. God said that he would destroy the world with a flood, and He did. In verse 7, God will keep to His word and destroy the world, but this time with fire. In verse 8, Peter is talking about the delay of Christ's second coming (and the eventual judgment and destruction of the world). The bit about the thousand years shows that God does not view time the same way humans do. It's hard to wrap our minds around that concept, but time is a natural law and God is outside of those laws, so time doesn't apply to him. God is also delaying Christ's second coming because he wants more people to repent. I think it's reasonable to draw parallels to the two events, but you have to keep in mind there will be no warning of when Christ's second coming happens. In 1 Thessalonians 5:2, Paul says "For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night." As for the time thing, I'd have to look deeper into that. Most of the time (depending on the passage), when time is mentioned it is meant literally. When you get to verses like "that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” the writer is trying to illustrate something, in this case that God does not view time the say way we do. Sometimes you have to look at the context of the verse and dig a little to understand what's going on. -

Travel is the biggest issue here. Playing 7 or 8 games in two weeks around Europe would be exhausting. From what I've read and heard, teams who played pre-season games over seas did not enjoy it. Sure, they enjoyed the experience of playing in another country and seeing the international fans and stuff, but it's a huge hassle for coaching and training staff. And I'm pretty sure European fans like their own leagues plenty. Would they like to play against NBA teams? Yeah probably, but they're not depressed because they're not.

Cavaliers Offer Job To Homeless Man
GamerGuy replied to The Regime's topic in Cleveland Cavaliers Team Forum
Just watched an interview with him and a TV station, and man that just about brought a tear to my eye. Dude is so thankful to God, and was STILL thankful to Him during his hard times. Great story, couldn't be happier for him. -
Phil getting frustrated with Kobe?
GamerGuy replied to AboveLegit's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Most of his shots were inside the three point arc during that third quarter stint though. And they weren't working inside out because Pau was too busy getting owned by his brother and Randolph. -
Really guys, really? Pathetic. -_-

Tyreke Evans' half-court game-winner

That was NUTS. Grizzlies thought it was over and didn't bother to play any inbound defense. What a shot by Evans. -

Yes, this will be a monthly feature. November didn't get a newsletter because well...my schedule was kinda insane. October had a newsletter, but it was still pretty raw. This month's version is much improved. There is a button linking back to the homepage, it's Aaron's logo right next to the YouTube logo. Some of those logos don't look the greatest because PDFs don't handle transparent graphics well. That's why eventually I'd like to make these HTML files. And thanks guys. As I work on these month to month, you should see them improve each time.

http://www.otrbasketball.com/newsletter/December_2010.pdf Revamped it a bit to match the new forum skin, and put it some new features. Eventually this will be an html file instead of a pdf, but for the moment this will do. Enjoy guys.

The Greek word Χριστιανός means "follower of Christ" , and the first recorded use of the term can be found in Acts.
