  3. 16. Los Angeles Clippers | ESPN Future Power Rating: 592 PLAYERS MANAGEMENT MONEY MARKET DRAFT 413 (4th) 30 (28th) 45 (24th) 77 (5th) 27 (23rd) We're a lot less bullish on the Clippers after a head-scratching summer that could give way to an uncertain future. While they accomplished the main objective -- a five-year extension for Blake Griffin -- Chris Paul is a free agent after the season and their only promising young player, center DeAndre Jordan, didn't make much progress last season. L.A.'s main summer pursuits were middling free agents, as it seemed more focused on short-term fixes than long-term excellence. Also, there's the Donald Sterling factor. With former general manager Neil Olshey gone to Portland, the Clips haven't hired a replacement and instead are running the team by committee -- a group that includes head coach Vinny Del Negro and, more importantly, The Donald. That led us to drop the Clippers' management score by 51 points, the biggest drop of any team. We also rated the Clippers 24th in the money category. While their cap position isn't bad -- they'll be at the cap if Paul leaves but still have money under the tax -- it's never clear what expenses the penny-pinching Sterling will approve. Griffin, obviously, gives them a tremendous foundation, and Eric Bledsoe is a potentially important piece too; that's what keeps them in the middle of the pack in the rankings. But asset-wise, there isn't a whole let else surrounding Griffin if Paul leaves, and we're not sure this franchise has the acumen or the financial will to provide those pieces. (Previous rank: 4)

  13. Usain Bolt Eyes Man Utd Tryout On Monday, 2012 Olympic 100-meter champion Usain Bolt told a British newspaper that he'd like to play for Manchester United. On Tuesday, United star Rio Ferdinand offered to help, and the two exchanged tweets about the possibility. "People think I am joking, but if Alex Ferguson called me up and said, 'OK let's do this, come and have a trial,' it would be impossible for me to say no," Bolt told the Sun on Monday. "I would not take up the challenge if I didn't think I was good enough. I am a very accomplished player and know I could make a difference." On Tuesday, Rio Ferdinand sent this tweet to Bolt: "if you want that trial at Man Utd shout me, I'll speak to the boss!! Well done in 100m, waiting for you to smash the 200m now!" Bolt replied: "After the Olympics we work on that...lol..thanks man". Bolt won the Olympic 100 meters with a time of 9.63 seconds (new Olympic Record), won the 200-meter finals with a time of 19.32, and capped his perfect Summer Games by leading the Jamaican 4x100m Relay Team to the title in a world-record 36.84 seconds Saturday night. The 6-foot-5 Jamaican first met United coach Alex Ferguson and the team when he visited Manchester in 2009 to take part in a 150-meter sprint through the city streets. "I would be the fastest player in the team -- but I can play as well," Bolt told the Sun. "I am in Britain for a few more days. If Alex Ferguson wants to give me a call, he knows where I am. I definitely want to see what I could do. I think I could step up to the Rooneys." A United spokesman told the Sun: "As the fastest man on Earth, he would undoubtedly add speed to the team." http://espn.go.com/olympics/summer/2012/trackandfield/story/_/id/8242606/2012-london-olympics-usain-bolt-wants-manchester-united-tryout-report-says
  14. Shouldn't have waited that long... Not his fault though. Romario put coach Mano Menezes on blast on nat'l TV. I'm glad Brazil lost, hope the CBF will finally fire Mano.
