Clippers offer Caron Butler 7 mill a year EXACTLY what I predicted. Broussard reports Clippers/Nets offered him 7 mill a year. Bulls/Spurs only offering 5 mill a year mid level exception. Caron Butler needs to take the offer and we need to keep our group together. Years aren't reported so who knows. Probably 3 year deals. BTW I think 7 mill a year over 3 years is very fair and smart of the Clippers. I say we keep 2012 Minny pick and draft a SF from this loaded draft with ton of SF's and let Caron groom them into the role of starter by the time he's older. Only thing we need to do is maybe trade Mo Williams+Kaman for Rajon Rondo or something like that. I have a feeling with Caron we are going to need a more capable playmaking PG to get everybody shots.

I like DJ. A lot. And anyone who thinks he's reached his ceiling is crazy. That being said, the deal he's being offered by the Clips is too generous but probably won't be enough to keep him. (I hate centers. It's not enough that they get to be taller than everyone, they get to be overpaid too.) But I digress. I hope DJ sticks around. I think those of you who are critical of his numbers are looking at his value the wrong way. He's basically a freakishly athletic cheerleader. Think Mark Madsen but, you know, can actually play basketball. And like I said, he's not done developing. As long as we never rely on his offense, he could end up being a defensive/rebounding force like Tyson Chandler. You could do worse spending 8 mil/year, as long as he gets his FT average up to the 68-70% range. He's not there yet. Not even close. Which is of course why I think the current offer is too generous.

The Lost Season.

Uh this is bad for Lakers. Basically implies NO ONE would want BOTH Bynum and Gasol which has already been reported. Lakers have refused to give up both so the Lakers are NOT getting Paul PERIOD. May get Dwight but CP3 is not headed to the Lakers.

Ramona Shelborne of ESPN LA has just reported that Clippers meeting with Caron Butler went so well that the two parties are meeting again Tuesday. This guy is a recent two time all star. A bit selfish offensively but a HUGE upgrade over Gomes and a very capable SF. Good on both ends of the floor. "Sources" say he's 100 percent and looks great. I doubt Olshey and VDN would be bringing him back second time if he didn't look great in workout. I just hope he's reasonable with the salary he demands. One thing I love about this guy is his toughness/swagger. He's one of the few guys in the NBA who has the heart and fire to go at players like Kobe and Lebron and hold his own.

Wow the Clipps extended an offer first instead of the patent Clipper matching ways. Makes sense i read on either hoopsworld or realgm that with DJ signing early the cap hold stays at 1 mill for now. I could be wrong but if thats the case good move Clipper FO. I really hope he takes it and doesn't get greedy.

So 'Bad Blake' gets drafted. The following year we draft Aminu and I remember how quiet CTB was regarding him before the season started. People were too stoked about Blake returning from injury to focus on the 7th pick of the draft. I remember mentioning that i thought he was the least discussed clipper rookie since Randy Woods. Now we have 2 rooks (Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie). I'm not gonna lie, I had to look up their names BECAUSE I FORGOT THEM. And its not their fault - the lockout was looming and we've got potential franchise changing transactions in the works, so they've been unjustly overshadowed. With Leslie, we'll have 3 SGs on the roster (4 if you count Willie). With Thompkins, we'll have 4 PF on the roster (assuming rhino re-signs), not to mention we'll have 2 centers. Any thoughts on these guys as we get closer to the season and how they'll fit into the grand scheme of things? They'll be incredibly green considering they were deprived of proper off-season workouts, summer league, and only 2 preseason games with potentially garbage time minutes to work with.

I don't think there'll be an ASG. There wasn't during the 1998-'99 lockout shortened season.
