Sixers Waive Dan Gadzuric PHILADELPHIA, PA. – OCTOBER 18, 2012 – The Philadelphia 76ers announced today that they have waived center Dan Gadzuric. The Sixers roster now stands at 15. Gadzuric (6-11, 240) did not appear in any of the Sixers preseason games thus far. The 10-year veteran has played in 527 career games with 164 starts, averaging 4.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.85 blocks in 14.8 minutes per game. http://www.nba.com/sixers/news/sixers-waive-dan-gadzuric-0 -
Hill could miss significant time. It seems we'll start without Odom, Hill and Billups for the first 2-3 weeks. Our depth just took a dump. At least that'll open up more PT for Willie Green, Bledsoe and Turiaf.

Clippers' Hill could miss significant time http://i.imgur.com/Z1eVL.png Vet FW Grant Hill will likely miss opening night, and it could be weeks until he returns. An MRI on Hill's right knee showed a bone bruise, coach Del Negro said Tuesday. After the Clippers' 88-71 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday, Hill said his injury will keep him out "at least a couple of weeks." Hill was expected to compete with Matt Barnes and Willie Green for the starting shooting guard spot until Chauncey Billups returns. Hill has appeared in two preseason games, both against the Miami Heat in China. Neither Hill nor Lamar Odom has played in a preseason game since coming back from the China trip. Hill, Odom, and Trey Thompkins didn't practice Tuesday. All three players are dealing with what the team has called "bone bruises" in their knees. The Clippers and Del Negro have been vague with details on the injuries. Tuesday, Del Negro said he expects Odom to return before Hill. Source

Unless, DeAndre has a breakout year this season which I'm sure of. Always believed he can take it to the next level -- he's shown it in flashes. Only a matter of time before he breaks through. Mad propz to Iavaroni for helplin' him develop them 1-2 post moves (with counters). Still has a looong way to go but I done seen enough to give him the nod over Gortat.

http://humanitariannews.org/20121006/brazil-protest-against-privatization-repressed-police Brazil: Protests Against Privatization of Public Space in Porto Alegre On October 4, 2012 hundreds of students and activists met at the Montevideo Plaza and in the Glênio Peres Square in Porto Alegre, to protest against what they called the privatization of public space. They protested against the banning of use of that square by street performers and by the general population for artistic activities or fairs, as Coca-Cola was allowed to use the space to put a gigantic inflatable “Tatu-bola” (Soccer Armadillo), symbol of the 2014 World Cup. Porto Alegre is one of the main host cities. Marco Aurelio Weissheimer explained: The students and activists tried to destroy the mascot - in which they succeeded - and in the process were repressed with extreme violence by the Military Brigade, the local military police at the service of the Governor of the state. http://globalvoicesonline.org/2012/10/22/brazil-police-violence-privatization-public-space-porto-alegre/ http://sul21.com.br/jornal/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Por-Ramiro-Furquim-_OAF6172.jpg http://sul21.com.br/jornal/2012/10/manifestacao-termina-em-batalha-campal-no-centro-de-porto-alegre/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zz1NF4yw-_g

The Kings announced Wednesday they had exercised the contract options on center DeMarcus Cousins and guard Jimmer Fredette for the 2013-14 season. Both players' options are part of their rookie deals. "We're looking forward to seeing DeMarcus and Jimmer play this year and continue to grow, improve and help this team be successful," basketball president Geoff Petrie said in a statement. Source: Sacramento Bee Salmons’ Return Still Up In The Air Meanwhile the Kings are uncertain when forward John Salmons will return to the team. When he does, he'll have to play his way back into the rotation. Salmons has missed the last two games because of personal reasons. Source

76ers Guard Evan Turner Injures Ankle http://i.imgur.com/dlza7.png Philadelphia 76ers guard Evan Turner injured his ankle in the team’s preseason game against the Boston Celtics and was held out of the rest of the contest. Michael Preston, Philadelphia’s director of public relations, reported the following via Twitter: http://i.imgur.com/XNnwC.png Turner is entering his third season in the NBA after being picked second overall out of Ohio State in the 2010 draft. He has become a valuable part of the team’s rotation under head coach Doug Collins and played 26.4 minutes per game last season. At 6’7”, Turner is a versatile player who can be effective at multiple positions and fill up a stat sheet. He averaged 9.4 points on 44.6 percent shooting while also grabbing 5.8 rebounds and dishing out 2.8 assists last year. He helped the 76ers take the Celtics to seven games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals last season, averaging 10.7 points and 8.6 rebounds in the series. Source
