  1. It's not new and not exactly "NBA" related but, "Hoop Dreams" was a good book. It follows the lives of two high school all-stars as they try to work their way out of where they live now and into the NBA. It's a true story.
  2. Addiction is a pretty strong word, but if I had to choose some stuff: Sex (like almost every guy). And if I don't get sex I've got to jack off. And considering I haven't got any since college ended, I've jacked off a lot this summer. Sports (including workingout). I do it everyday and if I don't do it I feel like I'm losing muscle or some of my ability because I didn't do it that day. I guess the computer, since I'm on everyday. And music, cause I listen to it everyday.
  3. haha My favorite reporter blooper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIrq_wnNNnY
  4. Exactly. If she doesn't want people talking about it, she shouldn't have been doing it. It's as simple as that.
  5. I agree. He's overrated. But this was good stuff.
  6. You guys got some on your biceps from working out? I didn't get any yet. I mean I only have 15.5 inch biceps right now (under 8% body fat) but I haven't got any yet. Should I be getting some? I got some from growth spurts, I believe.
  7. I know a lot of guys that have taken creatine, which isn't illegal or anything right now, but still is supposed to help you in similiar ways as PEDs in the weight room and stuff. I haven't taken anything myself. I'd take creatine but I don't have the money for it.
  8. Good thread. 1. How much do you think will performance enhancing drugs (PED) affect the game of a basketball player? Well besides the obvious of healing faster and less injuries or whatever, I don't think it affects a basketball player as much as a baseball player. I mean the added strength in baseball allows players to hit the ball further than they had before, can turn a decent hitter into a power hitter, and has tainted home run records. On top of that because of the healing and injury reducing ability of PEDs, pitcher's arms can recover faster in between games. In basketball though, it doesn't matter how strong you are (sure it helps), if you don't have the ability and skill, PEDs won't help you much anyways. PEDs won't help you shoot better, dribble better, or anything along those lines. I'm not saying I'm for them at all, I hate 'em, but I'm just saying I don't think they get as much attention in the NBA as they do the MLB because PEDs affect player's performances more in the MLB. 2. Will a PED scandal severely affect the NBA the same way it has wreaked havoc on MLB? Not at all. Kinda because what I said above. I don't think it affects a player's performance as much as it does in the MLB. 3. Who is your favorite NBA player, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron, Wade, who? IF (hypothetically) he is found out to be using PED, what should be done to him? I think it's different for the player. I mean PEDs would have more of an affect on Shaq's style of game than on Kobe's just due to the fact Shaq's game involved/involves more physical strength and contact than Kobe's does. So if they both took them, I think Shaq would get looked at more negatively by the media and fans than Kobe. I do think it's just as bad for both of them though. I don't know what should be done. You've got to make it a big enough deal so players will at least think before using it. 4. Do you think that the NBA should start testing its athletes for PED? Why? I thought they did stuff like that already during physicals and stuff? I mean I'm sure not to the extent the MLB does, but I thought they tested for the more obvious PEDs. 5. Finally, let's just say, WHAT IF Michael Jordan was found to have used PED during his playing years, should he be reviled? Should his records be erased? Should an asterisk be placed beside his name and his records and awards? Yes and no. No matter how many PEDs you take, you won't be a Michael Jordan, at the same time, it would leave a taint mark in the back of my mind whenever I talk about him.
  9. When he was in high school (Marvin Williams) I read a SLAM article on him during the whole "McDonald's All-American" stuff. He seemed like a cool guy, Kind of the style of player I was, and on a side note, whatever year he was in college I would have been in high school (so if he was a freshman I'd be a freshman). Then he decided to go to the NBA early, and I just stuck with him.
  10. Odom is the easy answer for me. He can play any forward known to man from some point-forward to power forward, gotta love that.
  11. There was no crossing going on there. He didn't even dribble the ball and barely had to make a change in direction. I agree with Confidence.
  12. I'm not saying he isn't the player his stats imply he is. I'm not going that far. I'm just saying the time in which he played allowed his game to thrive.
  13. To be fair though, the time in which Wilt played did help out his stats some.
  14. This looks like the type of team that would lose to the Cavs every playoff.
  15. NBA used to call stuff more strictly, then they got real sloppy when "flash" became more important than the actual game and now they've started to crack down on it a bit more. But it's still horrible.
  16. Honey mustard is the best. I've got this honey mustard that is made with like real honey, it's a dream come true.
  17. The Cavs have disappointed me year in and year out with our cheerleaders. Kings and Heat are the hottest. Suns used to have a pretty hot squad.
  18. PG - Magic Johnson SG - Michael Jordan SF - Larry Bird PF - Karl Malone C - Wilt Chamberlain
  19. If LeBron's reason for leaving is to "win championships" when the Cavs are getting to the ECF and winning the regular season and continuing to get better, then I've lost all respect for the man because he wants a team handed to him. He's got to leave for good personal reasons for me to- ah hell I'm just going to hate him anyways if he leaves.
  20. G: Chris Duhon (3) G: Andre Iguadala (6) F: Mike Miller (2) F: Tim Duncan (6) C: Marcus Camby (4) -------Bench-------- Bobby Simmons (2) Derrick Fisher (2) Craig Smith (2) Coach: Greg Popovich I was deciding between using Marcus Camby/Chris Duhon for this lineup or Chris Anderson/Andre Miller.
  21. LeBron you two timing [expletive]. I swear if he leaves I'll hate him till the day he retires.
  22. I liked Joe Smith. If we can get him cheap I'd like to pick him up again.
