  1. http://sports.yahoo....nleycup-ratings

NHL television ratings have bounced back from the post-lockout doldrums—and way beyond.

The clincher of the Stanley Cup finals was the most-watched and highest-rated NHL game in 36 years. TheChicago Blackhawks’ 4-3 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 6, which earned them their first championship since 1961, drew a 4.7 rating and 8 share Wednesday night on NBC.

That’s the best since a 7.6/27 for Game 6 of the Boston-Philadelphia series in 1974. It was 38 percent higher than the 3.4/6 for last year’s Pittsburgh-Detroit Game 6 and 9 percent higher than the 4.3/8 for Game 7 in 2009.

The network said Thursday that the game was watched by 8.28 million viewers.

i guess everyone just likes watching the flyers. in 1974 and now too

and that is also really impressive because that is not including viewers in canada, i think

  2. I just got a laptop like 3 weeks ago, and it had windows 7. Weird thing is though, that like 3 times a day[On average, sometimes once a day, sometimes like 3 times in an hour} my computer freezes for no reason and I have to restart it. Anyone know whats up?

first off run some virus scans

but when does it happen? does it happen when you do one certain thing?

and if you got it 3 weeks ago then you should have some kind of warranty service. try calling them. i have a dell and a few months ago my usbs went crazy and would crash my computer whenever i plugged anything in. i called dell, told them what happened. they went on my computer, reinstalled some kind of windows thing and it completely fixed everything. took 5 minutes

  3. But he came through. Just look at Chicago. Huet is almost even talent wise with Neimi but it's about getting the job done in those clutch times and that's why I'd take Osgood. Can you really say Leighton was clutch in those big moments?

leighton wasnt that clutch, but id still take him easily over a 37 year old goalie. you have to be able to keep the game close until the clutch times or none of it matters

  4. They'd take a lower offer to keep Halak out West IMO. We've seen that he can take over the playoffs but also is kinda like a grenade because tons of potential but you don't wanna waste a whole lot of cap via Huet.

i absolutely wouldnt pay 5.6 million or anywhere close for huet, but i would take him for like 2 million if the thing i said before was possible to do

  5. Yeah at 37 years of age at the downfall of his career. I'd take Osgood over Leighton anyday of the week. You don't seem to understand how good the Flyers defense is yet you claim to have watched every game?

osgood right now or osgood years ago? if you are talking about osgood years ago then id absolutely take osgood. but id take young leighton over 37 year old osgood

and btw osgood recently was good for the same reason leighton is good, great defense

  6. Lol, well if it was just a matter of adding Halak without subtracting anything, then yes no kidding it would be a great thing. But they absolutely would have demanded Giroux++ (and I believe they did, which is why Holmgren did not pull the trigger).

i think its a lot different now then it was at the deadline. montreal has to trade one of them now, and flyers werent as willing to trade carter as they are now

  7. and im not completely sure, but would it be possible in theory for the flyers to trade for huet who is making 5.6 million each of the next two years, but have chicago pay half of his contract? i know they do that in baseball, but would all 5.6 million count against the cap for the flyers or only the half they are paying?

huet is just a random example. there are other guys like tim thomas that would be possibilities if you were allowed to do this

and interesting thing i just saw, for each of the next 5 seasons, blackhawks are paying toews, kane, campbell, and keith about 36 million per year. and that isnt including guys like huet, sharp, bolland, versteeg who are also making 3+milllion per year each

  8. yes the flyers did well with a mediocre goalie, but imagine what would have happened if they had a guy like halak. i wouldnt trade carter for a goalie, but if i can trade carter for halak in a multiplayer deal without trading giroux/jvr then i would be all for it.

and i agree with getting another defensemen. definitely dont need to go spending major money on one, but the flyers could definitely use one more decent reliable defensemen.

  9. Hockey in June is -_- though, they gotta do something about the schedule, this [expletive] is making me want to play hockey. Next year is the Leafs' year :)

me and my friends have been playing roller hockey a lot the past year or two, and there are been so many new and random people trying to play. there are 3 outdoor rinks nearby my house and all of them are almost always occupied now, a few months ago there was never anyone there

  10. Yes, I watched every NHL postseason game. And I also disagree with you. The Flyers goalies had a better combined GAA than any other team in the postseason, so despite the fact that Leighton and Boucher are both regarded as mediocre at best, I don't see how adding in Halak and subtracting Giroux gets them any farther. I do not think they would have made the finals without Giroux, just IMO.

i think you mean flyers defense had a better GAA, cause thats really what it was. i think we would have had a better chance winning it with halak, but giroux is amazing and is going to be a star in the NHL, i wouldnt have done that trade.

but yes, i dont really see carter here next year either, whether it is trading for a goalie or not. i wouldnt a carter for halak. obviously others would be involved but i wouldnt mind that type of trade

and i didnt realize halak was only 25, i figured he was 28ish. id love to get him, as long as we can do it without trading giroux/jvr

  11. I am very upset with how much [expletive] Michael Leighton is taking today. Very soft goal to end it, no denying that. But without him, this team probably finishes 11th or 12th in the conference, and without him yesterday specifically, they lose by 3 or 4 goals in regulation. Whatever, it was inevitable I guess.

For the record, I agree that this team needs a young "franchise goalie". Too bad they don't grow on trees.

sure he helped a lot to get to where the flyers got, but if the flyers had a legitamate good goalie then we probably would have won the stanley cup. leighton is an average NHL goalie. he had a great defense in front of him which made him look better then average, but in reality he is not. i love the guy for what he did this year, but he is an average NHL goalie, nothing more

  12. I know we get a couple weeks ahead so it's not to bad. I heard second place actually gets free lessons from Tiger Woods while fourth place only gets Mike Weir. Super pissed.

does he teach players how to cheat on their wives also? or maybe only the blackhawks get those bonus lessons from tiger

  13. Glad Pronger didn't win it and now Richards might be smart enough to not touch the Prince of Wales next year.

Goal was from the same spot as where Crosby netted the Canada winner except with one of the best Americans so gotta be a double wammy for Philly.

completely disagree with 100% of that post.

and the crosby goal wasnt the same at all, and far from a double wammy. i dont give 2 [expletive]s about olympic hockey compared to flyers hockey
