Cobb, you should start going to games. And bring a couple thousand of your friends too. Seriously, a team in first place and playing great baseball in the middle of August should be getting more than 18,000 fans to their games.
-
I am quite excited about Kevin Kolb also.
-
Dom Brown's HR tonight is one of the longest I have ever seen in person.
-
The Braves acquired Derrek Lee today, a trade which I do not understand. They already have a right-handed first baseman who is going to give them Derrek Lee-like production, named Troy Glaus. Lee brings slightly better defense I suppose, but this seems like another lateral move (like the trade for Ankiel and Farnsworth).

The band is almost completely back together and they are on their typical August roll. Fun times. Also, I had some pretty rad seats last night. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g96/philsphan1210/mail.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g96/philsphan1210/mail-4.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g96/philsphan1210/mail-1.jpg

Report: Favre 'back in,' flying to Minnesota
Phightins replied to ChosenOne's topic in NFC Conference Discussion
Un[expletive]ingreal.....ESPN has officially jumped the shark. Well never mind, they did that a long time ago. But they are outdoing themselves with this one. -

Yeah....I see that now. Not the regular format though. It threw me off when I saw Tedy Bruschi talking from the regular ESPN studio, and the coverage of Favre's car driving away from the airport. [expletive] this station. -

Cool....ESPN decided to cancel their only show that I actually enjoy (Rome is Burning) in favor of some extra Favre programming. -
Chase is officially back!!! Greg Dobbs DFA'd...again.
-
On another note, Bobby Thomson (hit the "shot heard 'round the world") died today. One of the more legendary moments in baseball history.
-
LSU was hit pretty hard also. Both football and baseball programs.
-
Reds sign Yasmani Grandal. First big draft signing of the night. The deadline is midnight tonight, and there are still a bunch of high picks unsigned. Should be a fun couple of hours, especially as it pertains to Mr. Harper.
-
The Cliff Lee-David Price matchup is living up to the hype so far.
-
And now the Mets are looking into voiding K-Rod's contract. Never a dull moment.
-
K-Rod has a torn ligament in his thumb that is supposedly from the assault incident, and he needs surgery. Woops!
-
Well done, Kyle.
-
Kevin Slowey had a no-hitter through 7 and was pulled because of elbow tendinitis. Jon Rauch came in and lost it.

Perhaps we can get this sticked and get the offseason thread taken down? Anyway, it is almost here. SI.com released their early power rankings the other day. I do not usually put much stock into "power rankings", but I have several issues with this one. Hard to argue with Pittsburgh and Washington being in the top 3, but IMO they have the Blackhawks way too high and the Canucks a little too low. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/allan_muir/08/13/offseason.rankings/index.html

Yeah. Few things in life are more annoying than blacked out sporting events, regardless of the reason.
-
It is blacked out for you because you are in the region. Try "Fox Sports South".
-
TBS shouldn't be allowed to broadcast Braves games for their game of the week. Nothing worse than homer-ism in a national broadcast.
-
Nothing worse than being stuck in mediocrity in the NBA. Causes the Sixers to look for improvement by raiding the.....Nets front office?
-
I would pre fur if you just called me a moran, idito.
-
Alex Rodriguez is having a decent game.
-
This is precisely why I will never even consider betting on baseball. It is a beautiful game because of how unpredictable it is.
