  1. I wouldn't reach over the fence. My favorites are the balls hit down the line, when there is a good 2-3 seconds between the time it's called fair and the time it gets over near the stands, and some idiot still reaches over the railing to grab it.
  2. He could have pitched tomorrow against Misch and the Phillies offense would still find a way to get shut out.
  3. Cole Hamels' last 2 starts...15 IP, 2 ER, 19 SO, 2 BB (one intentional). And he is 0-2. W-L is almost entirely meaningless. In fact, Cole Hamels has not had a win since July 11th. But in the games since then (6 starts)... 42 IP, 10 ER (2.14 ERA), 50 SO, 9 BB, 0.97 WHIP. Run support FTL.
  4. Good news! Chase Utley is way ahead of schedule. Playing in a single-A game tomorrow night, likely to be back later in the week.
  5. Cole Hamels is as dominant as he as ever been. Frustrating as hell that he is always up against really good pitchers and the Phillies can't score for [expletive] on days that he pitches, but again, W-L for a pitcher is meaningless.
  6. Only half-watching, but Kolb was very impressive from what I saw.
  7. Un[expletive]ingbelievable. This team's inability to score for Cole Hamels is absolutely absurd.
  8. Major League Baseball stadiums should seriously give IQ tests to fans who want to sit in the first row down the lines and in the outfield before letting them sit there.
  9. He seemed very cheery today for a dude having surgery tomorrow and who might never play again.
  10. Also, this happened a little while ago, but Jose Guillen to the Giants....
  11. Also, after watching Papelbon and Broxton yesterday, I do not feel quite as bad about Lidge. Quite.
  12. Hell yeah! Anyway, as I told Kyle, last night I was at the game with a friend of mine (and his parents) who also has season tickets (I had tickets for last night also, but couldn't find anybody to go with, so I just went along with my buddy because he had an extra ticket. And his seats are way better than mine). They have season tickets for the Flyers and Sixers also, but for some reason they leave basically every game early to beat traffic (FYI, this is easily in my top 5 most hated things in the whole wide world-- leaving a game early that is). Anyway, since they were gracious enough to take me and drive me to the stadium, of course I went along with them when they decided to leave last night in the sixth inning.... Blah. Never again.
  13. The guy who is supposed to be the 8-hole hitter in the healthy version of the lineup (Carlos Ruiz) has an .816 OPS. The 8-hole hitter.... I can't wait to see what happens when Utley and Howard get back. Hopefully nobody else goes down in the meanwhile....
  14. I am obviously thrilled with that game, but....kind of bitter sweet on a personal level. [expletive] it, too long of a story for me to write out especially because nobody will care. Kyle knows what I am talking about though.
  15. The underage women in San Francisco must be more to his liking than they were in Tampa Bay.
  16. The Mets have struck me as a team with severe chemistry/character/heart issues for the past few seasons. But you obviously watch them a lot more than I do, so if you think everything is cool, then you'd know better than I would.
  17. Ouch, Chipper Jones is out for the season.
  18. Really? You don't care that the Mets clubhouse is a zoo?
  19. He will be charged with third degree assault.
  20. Francisco Rodriguez is in police custody following an "incident at the stadium". The rest of the details are hazy. Uhoh...
  21. Cool. Ross Gload starts hitting, and then he pulls his groin. I guess this means Dom Brown probably sticks around when Victorino comes back now.
  22. It is very concerning to me that the three of the four highest paid pitchers in the Phillies bullpen (Brad Lidge, JC Romero, and Danys Baez) are perhaps the 3 least reliable. Honestly I have seen a bit of improvement in Lidge over the past 2 weeks or so, but Baez is awful and Romero is a mess. I have never seen a pitcher responsible for pitching in one of the more crucial points of the game (the 7th/8th/9th) have as horrendous of a K/BB ratio as JC Romero (18 strikeouts/23 walks). That just won't work in the late innings, much less any part of the bullpen, much less any part of a Major League pitching staff period. And this dude has been the only lefty in the bullpen for the majority of the season. This frightens me coming down the stretch here. At this point, Ryan Madson and Chad Durbin are really the only two relievers I have a significant amount of trust in. Jose Contreras also, to a degree. although he is rather inconsistent.
  23. Also, I'd like to extend my middle finger in the direction of Brooks Conrad.
