Hate to say it because I like John Stevens a lot, but I have a feeling he will be fired within the next week or so.

Because he has not done any basketball activities in a month. He needs a few days to get ready. He seems to think he might not even be ready to go by Monday, but since they sold the game out so quickly after he signed, he better play or there will be a riot.

Well chances are they lose Soriano and Gonzalez so they had to get some cheaper options.

I like the Polanco signing a lot. Definitely an offensive improvement over Feliz. We now have a legit 2-hole hitter, which helps the lineup a ton. Obviously he will help the top of the lineup, but this will also allow the Phillies to slide Shane Victorino down to either the 6 or 7 hole where he will have more chances to produce runs, and also adds the speed dynamic to the bottom of the lineup which we lacked last year. I am predicting a huge year out of Victorino, for the record. As for how Polanco handles the glove, he has not played third in a while so it will remain to be seen. He was very good when he played 3rd for us right after we got him for Rolen. I doubt he will be as sure-handed as Feliz but I don't think he will be Wes Helms/David Bell level.

This is disappointing. They are not getting blown out in almost any of these losses. They are keeping everything close, against some good teams too. They just keep coming up a bit short. Frustrating.

Yeah smacking your stick against the boards/crossbar/goal post out of frustration is pretty common, but usually guys are smart enough to check if somebody is in the way beforehand.

It is going to be weird as hell seeing the Wachovia Center full for something besides a Flyers game or concert.

The Flyers must really like Oskars Bartulis since they signed him to a 3-year extension.

Well, it's pretty clear that all the trade speculation in the middle of last season really affected his game. So I don't blame him. If I were in his spot I'd want to be traded by February too, so I'd have all of Spring Training to get settled in and pitch with a clear head all year, then deal with free agency next winter even if it means risking not getting dealt and one more year of pitching for Toronto and no playoffs.
