The Tigers did not offer arbitration to Placido Polanco, which is kind of big since he is a type-A free agent. This means that if somebody other than the Tigers signs him, they do not need to give up their first round pick. I am guessing this makes him a hell of a lot more attractive to the Phillies now.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sixerville/More_Iverson_Conversation_Today.html I just bought tickets to Monday night's game. Article also says that Stefanski and Leon Rose are meeting today. Obviously as a fan I want to see this happen, but I can see why the Sixers may be tentative about it. As much as I dislike everything Eddie Jordan has done, adding Iverson would go completely against his philosophy and basically be a sign of already giving up on the season. Also, Ed Snider was very clear in his intent to get Iverson out of town last time around, and he would sort of look like a hypocrite if he brings him back. But like I said, I want to be interested in this team again, as do most other fans.

Phillies sign Brian Schneider. Weird. Thought they would have gone for a right handed bat, but you could do a whole lot worse than Brian Schneider as a backup catcher.

I agree Jordan has been horrible.

I agree, but of all nights to bash the Sixers I don't know if this is it. They actually played well for a change, and lost with a second left to a very good Western Conference team. So on top of losing to bad play, we are also getting bitten by [expletive] luck now.

What gives?

Chris Coste is a really great guy, honestly one of my all time favorite Phillies as ridiculous as that may sound. I don't think he can play anymore, however, and Mets fans will realize this very soon if they have not already. He will be a hell of a manager someday, though. And I agree that the Cora signing is an absolute joke and it illustrates why I think Omar Minaya is a terrible general manager. This team has so many holes, and Minaya gives $2 million guaranteed to Alex Cora? When there are so many younger guys who could do exactly what Cora will do (and probably more) for a quarter of the price? Don't get it, but whatever, as a Phillies fan I am not complaining.

[expletive]kkkkkkkk the Mets signed Chris Coste. He is one of my favorites, it will be awful tough to see him in a Mets uniform.

Breaking News: Tiger Woods Seriously Injured in Car Crash
Phightins replied to Smitty's topic in Other Sports Discussion
Well, clearly something fishy happened, or he would have just come clean about it from the start. So, considering that, there is absolutely no way he tells what happened since he is not legally obligated to. -
Andre Iguodala Lou Williams Thaddeus Young Riley Cote Chad Durbin Scottie Upshall All of these guys are on Twitter. Mike Richards, Riley Cote, and James van Riemsdyk are all on Facebook as well. I could find more, these are just the ones I "follow" or am "friends" with.

The entire thing was a mixup. As everybody knows, Andy usually likes getting the ball first, so his plan was to do the onside kick had they lost the coin toss, but had they won the coin toss (like they did), the captains were supposed to say they wanted to get the ball first. Todd Herremans was one of the captains. He had heard some special teams guys talking about this before the game, so when he got to the coin toss he got confused and deferred the decision when the Eagles won the toss. He was supposed to just say the Eagles wanted the ball. But whatever, got the win and that is all that matters.

Annoying. Seems like we are keeping a lot of these games against good teams close, but just can't pull any of them out. At least they are competitive, I guess. Still looks like this will be a long [expletive] season.

The Armstrong/JVR thing happened during the five minutes I missed for a Wawa run, so I cannot comment. I have not even seen a replay yet. Most of the beat writers I follow on Twitter seem to think it was brutal and Armstrong absolutely deserved the gamer, and they are usually pretty objective. I will say that the officiating was pretty inconsistent tonight. Did not lose us this game though, Johan Hedberg was just awesome. Flyers played a pretty good game from top to bottom, I thought, but this was one of those games that you just have to chalk up to the opposing goaltender. Pretty bad timing, since we could have used the two points really badly.

I am not going to argue with you about this again, but I will say that if Jared Ross is an idiot, then so is Patrice Bergeron. On another note, I hate referring to any athlete as a "warrior" because I think that is ridiculous, but I can't think of many words more appropriate to describe Ian Laperriere.

Kind of a joke that Patrick Kaleta only gets two games, the same penalty Danny Briere got for his far less brutal hit.

Going to be there!!!! :glasses: Of all the hundreds and hundreds of Philadelphia sporting events I have attended over the years I have never been to a regular season Eagles game, so I am pretty excited.

Sixers Seriously Considering Bringing Back AI
Phightins replied to The Artesticle's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Just get him signed up. This season is beyond a disaster at this point, just do something to fire up the fan interest a bit. After sitting in yet another quarter-full arena tonight I would absolutely love to see that place packed and actually caring about basketball again. -

ESPN is a joke. Just throwing that out there. -
I was at the game. Honestly, the first thing I thought of when I saw the Kaleta hit on Ross was the Randy Jones/Patrice Bergeron incident. Kind of ironic that you have such a different view of this. Anyway, your blind hatred for the Flyers is starting to shine through. It is okay, lots of people hate us, but it's pretty funny that your hatred towards Philadelphia skews your opinions now almost as much as your blind loyalty to Boston.

Haha yeah I am not expecting good things from the Sixers.

Will be attending this game. Should be a fun day. Flyers/Sabres at 1, then dinner in the city, then heading back over to the Center for this.

No Lou, possibly no Brand. Could be a long night.

He played with it last night, they did not realize how serious it was until today.
