Macho Harris has won the free safety job, or so it would appear.

It's been a down year for sure, but in his defense, he's tried awfully hard to alter his game to fit Citi Field. It's a really bad park for him IMO.

Would you trade Brand for Boozer today?
Phightins replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
That's tough. Ask me again a month or two into the season. I'd like to see what a healthy Brand can do in Jordan's system before I make my decision. -
Yeah I don't buy the reports saying his draft stock fell that much. I am sure he will get drafted a bit later than he would have otherwise, but if the kid can play he can play. And from everything I have heard, this kid can play (honestly I did not watch any Oregon games last year and only saw a bit of the Boise State game). It's not like there has never been an idiot with character problems in the NFL before...

The Canucks are having an awesome offseason. This is an amazing contract for both ends.
-
The offense has been brutally bad. They are living on the solo homerun. Absolutely no "small ball" or hitting with RISP. Also JA Happ was scratched from today's start.

Of all the stadiums I have been to, PNC Park is by far the nicest to look at. Too bad the game experience sucks, and it isn't just because the team is bad. Not trying to sound like a homer, but IMO the best combo of beautiful stadium/fun game experience is Citizens Bank Park. Citi Field and Comerica Park were really cool too.

I don't think it's going to last. From what I've heard, the guys who have tested it out said it's almost unusable. Way too bulky. I know it is safer but I'm thinking they will need to develop a slightly more compact version.
-
Except not... Anyway, apparently every minor leaguer will be required to wear those next year, and eventually it will be worked into the Majors.

Yeah, gotta love the stupid media and stupid fans who make a big deal out of everything. The third preseason game is the one where the first teamers play most of the game. It is the one treated most like a regular season game. It is where the offense in particular finds some sort of rhythm (sorry for stealing Marty Mornhinweg's word lol) if they hadn't already. Putting Vick in on every 2nd down (something that everybody has said will not be a regular occurrence in the regular season) certainly disrupted any flow they had going. And am I wrong? Do any Eagles fans feel confident with this offense, based on how they looked on Thursday? I know I sure don't. I certainly hope that at some point in the next two weeks they figure something out in practice, because as of now I am not feeling so confident going into the regular season. So yeah, for the people too simple minded to actually look beyond the title of that video and see the issue here, Donovan's issue is not Vick. His issue is how Reid and Mornhinweg were using Vick on Thursday, and the fact that it disrupted everything.

I think his point is that with NY you have to take the numbers with a grain of salt. If every city had 7 teams, there's a pretty good chance that 3 or 4 of them would be competitive.

Still makes very little sense to me. I mean the concept is good...a powerful lefty bat for the bench. But Jim Thome has never been a bench player in his career. He is a guy who has gotten give or take 30 plate appearances a week for his entire career, and now he will be lucky to get 6 or 7. Baseball is a game of rhythm. Even guys who have been bench players for their entire career say it is very difficult when you know you will get one chance per game, if that. I am sure it is going to be a very hard transition for Jim Thome. Maybe he will be able to pull it off, who knows, but it's pretty unpredictable as of now. Anyway, you better hope he turns out a little better than Matt Stairs, who has not had a hit since July.

Wow what a game. Cole Hamels has 19 straight scoreless innings. Think he has "figured it out"? Hmm. Very good sign.

I see no way Michael Vick becomes the Eagles starting quarterback barring an injury to McNabb. He was not good enough to run this offense before spending two years in jail and he certainly is not now.

Ed Pinckney to be Sixers TV analyst
Phightins replied to Phightins's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
And a link... http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/landing_09?Pinckney-Joins-Sixers-as-Color-Analyst=1&blockID=72634&feedID=704http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/landing_09?Pinckney-Joins-Sixers-as-Color-Analyst=1&blockID=72634&feedID=704 -
No link, they just announced it on Daily News Live. This is the first time I have heard him talk and he sounds very knowledgeable, and a hell of a lot easier to listen to than Bob Salmi. I guess we will need to wait til the season starts for official judgement.
-
Check that, the person who reported that meant to say Quintin Berry, not Anthony Gose.
-
Apparently Taschner will be the only call-up for now. Charlie and Amaro want to wait for the minor league seasons to end before calling up anybody else. I heard that Anthony Gose (last year's 2nd round pick) might get called up despite never playing above low-A ball. He stole 75 bases in 125 games this season. One thing this team is lacking right now is a designated-pinch runner (last two seasons we have had Michael Bourn and Greg Golson) so it wouldn't be the worst thing. The kid is only 19 too so it'd be a cool chance for him.
-
Jack Taschner was recalled today, the first of the September call-ups. A pretty obvious one, since until now Eyre has been the only lefty in the pen and Romero may be out for the season.
-
Alright, revised pitching matchups: Tomorrow: Cole Hamels vs. Jonathan Sanchez Wednesday: JA Happ vs. Brad Penny Thursday: Pedro Martinez vs. Tim Lincecum I don't think the Giants have officially announced that Penny is pitching on Wednesday but it's looking like he will.

Well when you consider money Morales is the obvious choice. He would be the obvious choice for almost anybody besides the Yankees. Also, I have actually had him in a fantasy GM mogul league for a couple years now. Even though that is all fictional, just thought you'd like to know that I am currently in the 2023 season and Kendry Morales is headed to the hall of fame haha.
