Donatas Motiejunas 2011-2012 season thread
Dash replied to Dash's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
Not really concerned about the shooting performance, he's been great for most of the season and even dominated in a previous game against Lietuvos Rytas including a game winner so I'll let this one slide. The 9 rebounds look very nice. Nice catch on his growth though. I haven't watched many of his games this year, mainly just highlights and such but if Motiejunas has seriously grown into 7'2 then this could be huge for the Rockets. Even if he isn't able to slide over to the 5 then we still got a major mismatch at the 4. -
Don't mind this loss. 3 of 4 on the road trip is pretty decent.

We did an awesome job hosting it in 2006 so why not?

A lot of people like to say that Lowry broke out this season but in reality it was right after the All-Star break when the Rockets posted one of the top records in league during that time period with Lowry leading the way. He has dropped off quite a bit lately but its not like he's been All-Star level for 10 games and then started playing horribly. Brooks was horrendous for us last season and even when he was averaging 20 ppg in 09-10, I still felt he was incredibly overrated. I don't regret letting him go at all especially considering that we got a superior point guard in Goran Dragic and a first round pick. And the article clearly states that Houston is not going to part with Kyle Lowry.

Will these players be top 10 all time when they're done?
Dash replied to kingfish's topic in General NBA Discussion
As much as I hate judging players by championship rings, Lebron needs to win one in order to crack my top 10 and he has to do it with a sensational Finals performance. -
...but the Lakers are asking for Kyle Lowry. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_lakers_celtics_nba_021012 Easy no from the Rockets' end. I'm not sure if would go for a Martin/Scola for Pau deal with Nene out of the picture, but the Lakers don't appear interested anyways.

Dirk shouldn't have made it. Sucks Lowry couldn't continue to play at a high level or else he could have had a case.

Too many "me" guys who don't take high percentage and don't compliment each other very well. Steve Nash would help everyone on this besides maybe Tyreke Evans, who needs the ball in his hands to be effective and can't shoot at all (30.4% shooter on all jumpshots and a 24.6% three point shooter). Sacramento really needs to sell high on Evans like Milwaukee needs to with Brandon Jennings, any team with those two as franchise players doesn't have much of a future. Its either that or find a legitimate pass first point guard and then slide Evans over to the 2, but the only way I find that acceptable is if the Kings' offense flows through Cousins and not Evans.

Interestingly enough Morey just tweeted on Lin and admits he should have kept him. Hard to believe a preseason cut is going to cost us a high lottery pick.

Donatas Motiejunas 2011-2012 season thread
Dash replied to Dash's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
Not much but I tweeted Daryl Morey about Motiejunas and here is what he had to say: Love the "big future" bit he inserts right at the end. I seriously can't wait till he gets over here. Edit: he tweeted again on Motiejunas: -
He's ruining our pick.

15-11 with the 4th seed in the West after winning on the road against Portland. I'd say things are looking up but then Lowry got hurt.
-
No Chandler Parsons?
-
Baffled that the Rockets cut him for Jeff Adrien after Lin put the team on his back and almost led the Rockets to a last minute comeback in the final preseason game. Right now he's taking the league by surprise but eventually I do see him cooling off like Nitro said.

Houston has an AHL team that apparently has a strong fanbase and I know the city has had some interest in bringing in an NHL team for a couple years now (the Coyotes were rumored to be a possibility last year) but so far no luck. Anyways if I can find some free time for the next home game then I might just go ahead and attend an Aeros game just to get a feel for the sport. Thanks for the heads up, I didn't consider that.

I'm not sure how many games NHL Network airs every week but I'll try to get to each one of the teams listed so far in this thread. Well I've never been in this position before so I had no clue what to do lol. I'm liking the sound of the Stars (talent, young, in-state) but I'm going to go ahead and take your advice and try to watch as many games as I can before I pick. Appreciate the replies.
-
They limit the number of Stars games aired in Houston.

So my brother became a huge hockey fan this year and I'm thinking about giving the sport a shot as well. Thing is that I know absolutely nothing about the NHL and I don't know what team I should follow. My brother went out of the region and is a Penguins fan (kinda depressed about the Crosby injury) FYI. I could follow the only team in Texas in the Stars but again I know nothing about them, and I'm open to following any team in the league. Not that I am a bandwagoner but this is a new sport to me and if there isn't anything to be the least bit excited about this season then its going to be difficult for me to stay interested for long.

Rockets waive Adrien to sign Greg Smith
Dash replied to i am batman u die now's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
Apparently we have been trying to make room for Smith via trade for weeks now but Morey was unsuccessful so he went ahead and cut Adrien. Greg Smith should have definitely gone in the 2nd round this year, he's raw but has good potential on the defensive end and brings some size. -
Gonna wait on a more credible source to report this because there is no way Boston does that deal.

Not March Madness or the combine yet so I'm a bit ignorant on the prospects outside of your top 7 picks plus Sullinger. I'm not sure how to feel about Beal. We already have Kevin Martin starting and Courtney Lee could be a starter on several NBA teams and will be a free agent this offseason, will the Rockets let him walk? No clue but if he does then taking a shooting guard like Bradley Beal might be the way to go. Draftexpress has him listed as 6'4 and I have never been a big fan of undersized guards, but you do mention that he is one of the best rebounding guards in the college game. Does this imply that he plays big and that his size won't be much of an issue at the professional? And how much of a disparity is there between him and Jeremy Lamb? Personally I would take Sullinger with the 8th pick, too good of a player to pass up even with our roster situation although there is a good chance that Scola might be an amnesty candidate (if Houston goes through with their max contract plan). I have no idea whatsoever on what I would do with the 14th pick, the bulk of the talent is already gone by then and there doesn't appear to be any prospect worth taking with a lottery pick (at least right now). I don't know much about Young but him being a 6'9 tweener doesn't endear him to me. I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Cody Zeller at this point.

I can't find a reliable source but I do know for a fact that it was a term agreed upon by the city of Seattle and Bennett.

Kevin Love stomps on Luis Scola's face
Dash replied to Dash's topic in NBA and College Basketball Media
Love actually brought that up when he was being interviewed after the game. Dude sounded so bitter when the groin incident was obviously an accident. -
I don't see this happening. Too short of a window to get a team to Seattle (they have until 2013 to get a team or else all Sonics history transfers to OKC) and they don't even have a suitable arena yet.
