  2. I don't believe in god...........to me, (this is just my opinion) it's just for people who can't accept the nothingness that happens when they die. I would honestly love to believe that when we die we go up to heaven, or are reincarnated or whatever and live on, but I just find it too ridiculous to accept.
  3. I think it's pretty clear that a high pick in this draft would have cost us too much in terms of assets, otherwise I'm 99% sure we would have done it. IMO in a weak draft like this where even the top 3 picks have bust potential (D-Will and Kanter more so), trading an established player like Iguodala plus more is too much of a risk for a team that just made the playoffs. On another note, I'm starting to like Vucevic a little, and I think if he pans out, he can become a Marc Gasol type player rather than a Spencer Hawes type player. His athletic measurements at the combine are a concern, but the guy is huge and has long arms as well which will compensate some what. He's is far better shape than Hawes is and has a pretty decent sprint speed too.........he'll be more mobile than Spencer, but obviously he'll wont be Dwight Howard. I'll wait to see him play first against some of the more athletic big men in the league before judging how much his athletic liability will hold him back. Apparently we were close to trading Iguodala to move up to 10 because we were scared he might have been gone when our pick came up....combine that with the reaction in the control room from Thorn and Stef after we got him and it's pretty clear that management sees something in this guy.
  4. Lol.........who would you have rather had? This draft is a total crapshoot, there was no point wasting a proven player to move up and draft a player who is just as likely to be a bust than a role player (Biyombo etc). I don't know what you were expecting, but this draft was always going to be underwhelming in terms of talent.
  5. Nikola Vucevic was a pretty average pick, but what do you expect with the 16th pick in a weak draft. Don't think he'll be anything special, but I think at least he'll be better than Spencer Hawes. Doug seems to love him and his character and personality fits in with the type of team we're trying to build plus he has great his size and a nice jumper for a big man and can score in the post.....as long as he lives up to his supposed work ethic and continues to improve (which he has done ALOT over the past few years) then I think he'll be ok, but he might stuggle at first because of his complete lack of athleticism, but his size should help to make up for that while playing center.
  6. I wouldn't say both sides of the ball, he's shown little on the offensive end of the court in his years in the league- he has not jumpshot and doesn't really have a soft touch around the basket. He pretty much gets his points from either put backs or from drop offs/set ups from his teammates. He definitely has a lot of potential defensively though.
  7. Well to me, Manu is the clear cut 3rd best SG in the league after Kobe and Wade. He's more efficient, better shooter, better defender, better passer, better rebounder, I would much rather have the ball in his hands on my team than Ellis. Then I think it's a toss up between the rest depending on who you ask but personally I have Joe Johnson 4th, Monta 5th and then Gordon. I think a lot of the younger players (relative to how long they've been in the league, I know Monta is still young himself) like EG, Harden, Tyreke etc are all set to take a big step next year and could possible overtake Monta.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF4j4v4jtaA&feature=player_embedded Got to love Mark Cuban It takes the media all but 10 seconds to mention Lebron and Wade, it really is pretty sad.
  9. Lebron and Wade are the face of the league playing on the team with the most media focus (for obvious reasons). Everything they do will clearly be under far more scrutiny from the media than anything a role player like DeShawn Stevenson does. Also imo there is a thin line between having swagger/trash talking/trying to get under your opponents skin and just coming off as immature and naive, something the Heat's duo need to learn. Maybe not so much Wade, but when you listen to Lebron in an interview, he really is on his own planet.
  10. I'm not completely against trading for Monta...............at least we'd get a high pick in the ridiculously strong draft.
  11. "an impact veteran -- someone such as Pau Gasol, Monta Ellis or even JaVale McGee -- for the pick." one of these is not like the others....
  12. so nothing then? I was merely wondering why you think he's overrated, when the majority of people think he's a pretty damn decent player.
  13. and that opinion is based on what exactly? I'm guessing not much. Anyway don't like the trade, but we're obviously just gauging what the market is for Iguodala. It's pretty clear that we'd need something more like it says in one of the articles. I wouldn't be completely against a Kaman + Aminu for Dre, and would prefer that over the Monta deal.
  14. ......you have Eddie House standing up from the bench during every shot.......he is the king of useless scrub celebrations.
  15. He blew his chances last time by not accepting the role given to him by the coaching staff. I loved the old Allen Iverson....................but this one is just depressing, please just retire.
  16. if i'm going out - drinking if i'm staying in - shmoking
  17. Lol, I just wrote a fairly long post on why I don't like this then lost it by mistake........shiiiiiieeeeeeet. Anyway... TL;DR - NO TO MONTA Don't like his game at all, statistically every player on his team performs better when he is on the bench. He's a legit scorer, but he's also a ball stopper with limited ball handling ability and vision. Takes the ball away from Jrue/Turner and forces Evan to at a tougher position - stunts their development individually and as a backcourt. Sacrifices our strengths (defense) for a boost in offense, which is a lateral move at the very best because defense is what wins games. We need a center more than we need a scorer, and this uses up our most trade-able asset (that the franchise is willing to part with).
  18. Yeah, agree with Rambis needing the boot.............they need a coach that will instill an offense based on what his players can and can't do, not a coach that tries to force his own predetermined offense (the triangle) on players that don't really fit well (although K-Love is a great fit, just they don't have the perimeter players for it) and completely fail at it.
  19. Yeah, I have a high opinion of Rubio as well, but people's opinion of him is quite varied, and his stock has slipped a bit since he hasn't had a great season with Barcelona (although people don't seem to understand that European stats aren't as gaudy as NBA stats). He has qualities as a basketball player that you just can't teach - Amazing playmaking ability and a willingness to play tenacious defense. However he is still a question mark coming from overseas, and with so many good young point guards in the league at the moment, it's hard to see him becoming elite when he's not really a scorer and has a shaky jumpshot. I agree a jumpshot can be worked on, but it also makes it harder for players to adjust to the league when they don't have a jumper to fall back on, and I think that will make things difficult for Rubio initially because he'll be forced to make more plays for himself scoring wise. We'll see though, I can't wait to see how he does.
  20. yeah I agree, there is a reason the Wolves got him for practically nothing, and no other team wanted him..............though he apparently is a gym rat, so he might develop some more, but I wouldn't put money on it. The Wolves may be a young team, but they have far too many mid to lower level prospects who could, but probably wont develop into anything special. Obviously Kevin Love had a break out season, but he still has plenty of questions surrounding his defensive game. On the other hand, Super Cool Beas, Wes Johnson, Jonny Flynn, even Rubio aren't particularly great prospects because of all the glaring holes in their games......but I really do hope that Rubio develops into something in the nba, because everyone seems to hate him for no reason at all.
  21. Is this really going to change anything? I would think they need a change to whoever is running things up top......Joe Dumars I think, because he just does not seem to have a plan at all going forward. Keeping Rip and Tayshaun for so long, then signing McGrady, Iverson, etc....these are moves to patch over a contender in hopes for another playoff run, not rebuilding like he should be. Though it did seem as if the players didn't respect the coach......but that's not a surprise when you play in a losing environment with a losing mentality.
  22. nice to see a few familiar names around here..........so thanks guys. and yeah I'm from Scotland.........not really a fan of either team but I'd probably pick Rangers if I had too....I just hate Neil Lennon.
  23. Not really sure what's going on with the Wolves......I thought they wanted to get some veteran help, yet here they are looking at drafting another 19/20 year old. They should trade the pick, otherwise they will just keep on losing and their young players will become accustom to it, which is never a good thing.
  24. I think that's why they signed Luke Ridnour. Flynn was always drafted as a back up plan, with Rubio being the long term project as their starting PG. Never was a fan of Flynn to be honest, he just doesn't have the physical tools to be a successful starting point guard in the NBA. He could be a useful bench player for some team, but I don't see him as a long term starter.
  25. I think it's still pretty close between Messi and Ronaldo, but after Messi's performance in the champions league final I think he has the edge for the best player in the world - and that's coming from a Man Utd fan that's always liked Ronaldo. Each player offers you something different - with Ronaldo you get a player with unbelievable speed and strength for his size, has great skill and is a threat from distance as well as in the air, making him lethal from pretty much any kind of situation. Messi on the other hand is more of a finesse type player, but the way he dribbles and controls the ball is just unbelievable, and puts so much pressure on the opposing team's defense. I've always favored Ronaldo just because I think he's the more versatile player, and he's proved he can play in the most physical league in the world (prem league) where as Messi has only performed in the La Liga, which isn't the same physical test that the premier league is. However it's tough to say whether he's the best athlete in the world.........it really comes down what your definition of athleticism is, which is a tough thing to pin point because it can vary even within a single sport - like basketball for example.
