  1. I like the Irvin pick for Seattle, despite having Cox on the board then trading out. Irvin's probably only a sub-package and rotational pass-rusher his first two years, but once he gets into an NFL training room and bulks up, and can polish up his pass rushing moves, the Seahawks have a potential 15 sack guy. He ate offensive tackles alive at times. I think worst case scenario you see a career much like Cliff Avril in Detroit. Either way, the WVU product was one of my favourite guys in the entire draft.

Speaking of the Cox trade, Philadelphia got a gem. [expletive] they have a great defensive line. If Brandon Graham can step up like I know he can, the Eagles are damn near dominant when you add Cox. Such a force inside. I wasn't buying the top ten hype during the process. I had watched a bit of film on him and he never flashed fully until later in the year. He's so big but he's football smart and was also productive at left end. His two perfect fits were Seattle and Philadelphia.

Staying in the NFC East, I like the trade ups for all teams not named the Giants. It's clear the arms race is back on in the East and now Washington wants to bring their horses to the track as well. Griffin sets up Washington well, there's no reason to believe he can be a top-ten quarterback and it's legitimate with Shanahan running things for the Redskins. Let's see what they can do with their other picks before I really believe in them for next year, but they gave the process a head start with trading for Griffin.

  2. Vancouver's suffering from what Chicago suffered after their Cup run. They can't put big winning streaks together, they look off more then maybe I'm used to, and the defense hasn't been great. The whole year it's been inconsistent. I keep waiting for them to put it together (a win in Minnesota would lend credence to that) but they never really seem to turn the corner. If they do beat the Wild tomorrow, they will have taken 9 out of 10 points, certainly not all that bad, while playing pretty awful. They were dominated by the Wings at times and still went to a stupid shootout. Nashville is some absurdly 14-2 or something and the Canucks played halfway decent against them; if not for 2 soft goals from Luongo the Canucks probably win that game 3 or 4-1. So the talent is there - adding Booth was a great move, Booth and Kesler seem to have developed a bit of chemistry together, and having Chris Higgins back with them full time should bring in some real production.

If they can start putting wins together, they'll run away with the West again. I just hope they start finding their form, especially the Sedins. I don't think we need to add anything, besides a depth defenseman and maybe a guy like Travis Moen to play between the third and fourth lines, or where Vigneault seems fit. I think Moen's the ideal guy, he can move up and down the roster without losing much which Gillis seems to favour (Chris Higgins is a fan favourite here and he moves all over the line-up).

  3. If most the people who don't like him already have him ignored what's the point of banning him? He's one of the few big sources of activity here.

There's a difference between big sources of activity through positive contributions and trolling, negative attitudes, and ECN is the latter.

  4. What is the obsession over bets...?

Because it somehow strokes his superiority complex, making a simple bet about something that no one gives a shit about somehow gives him gratification and in his own mind thoughts that he is smarter then anyone on this site.

  5. I haven't once said McCourty was good this season. I've criticized him plenty. Try again though.

Show me where I've called them the best team in the NFL during the past few weeks. I'd love to see it, or are you going to continue to make up statements? .

You continually bash and berate other teams players while glorifying your equally average players like no hands Hernandez, Haynesworthless and Andre Carter (that was my favourite one).

  6. I hope you're ready for your call out thread in February. Ever since the Canucks lost after they were supposed to win in three games, you've been a little butt-hurt about the Patriots. It's not a coincidence.

I'm not butthurt about anything, you're just proclaiming the Patriots to be the best team in the past five years of the NFL and repeatedly shit on other teams. I made a comment about a Jets-Pats rematch, not being butt hurt about the Patriots.

You shit on every team, so I will shit on yours. I find it funny you're calling out overrated corners when you have Devin McCourty on your team.

  7. I didn't watch the game last night, but from everything I've heard that Canucks were pretty much raping the Rangers offensively, and Lundqvist played like a beast, and Luongo shit the bed.

I saw the shot totals, and it was something like 30+ to 13?

Luongo played decently, it was turnovers and just the Canucks playing like shit generally. You can see they're still a top three team in the NHL because they have these stretches of dominance but they respond by letting in a weak goal or letting down defensively.
