Another great OKC debate lol

Which would you rather have.

Person A: Can shoot the lights out, inside, midrange, and three pointers hardly ever misses a shot even when well defended. Cant shoot free throws and cant play a lick a defense, an opponent usually scores 25 - 30 ppgs

Person B: The top defender, awesome, NOBODY can score on this person, stealing blocks etc, excellent free throw shooter but a horrid shooter shoots roughly 5-30 shots when he shoots.

Depends on what team I'm considering signing the player to or trading for. Also greatly depends on the position, because perimiter and interior defenders have an entirely different impact on the game.

But generally speaking, I'll take the offensive player. The NBA's best defenders can't stop an elite scorer from getting his on a consistent basis. This could be seen with Durant still getting his 25-30PPG against Artest in the first round, or Kobe at times obliterating every great perimeter defender of the last decade. Also, a great individual defensive player relies a lot more on his teammates than an elite scorer. A great, versatile scorer can create his own shot and score on anyone, regardless of how crappy his teammates are.

But again, there are so many variables. Gotta be more specific.

ill take player b, as im assuming whoever he guards will not be able to score at ALL. Imagine the lakers if kobe couldn't shoot or pass, or the cavs if lebron could not shoot or pass? Just make sure you got guys on your team who can score.
