Wade Doesn't Want To Give Up Options

As Dwyane Wade approaches the deadline for him to sign a contract extension with the Heat, he maintains that he wants to look into his options.

"You work all of your career to put yourself in position to have options like this -- and I just want to look into all of my options," Wade said. "You only get so many years to be at the top of your game and blessed to be an elite player in this league. We won a championship here, and I want us to do all we can to give ourselves a chance to go and win it all again."

The window for Wade to sign an extension with Miami begins at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

Wade has two more seasons and about $33 million remaining on his contract, and he can opt out after next season.

Wade is just pressuring us to make a move, his intention is to sign with us, he just wants us to make some effort to help him. Better yet, if our young guys can really improve this season I think it will be enough to keep him around.

It's interesting looking at management between the Cavs and Heat, both of whom could lose their star players. Cleveland has gone all out, getting Shaq and Mo, while Miami is staying conservative hoping to develop their young talent into D-Wade's support.

Imo...I think Wade could use a better big man. I can't see him leaving Miami though. He's won a ring there and he seems at home.

I think LeBron leaves to BK. He has a better chance to win there than in Cleveland or NY because the Nets have a great core of young talent. The Heat have great young guys and have cap space in 2010 that the Cavs don't.

Wade will stay but he needs to be patient.

Boobie sucks..

Verejao is an overpaid role player

Mo isn't "young" and neither is Delonte

The other 2 I have no idea who they are

Not exactly a great core of young guys. The homerism never fails though.

Miami has:

Mario Chalmers

Michael Beasley

Daequan Cook

Dorrell Wright

Have you not paid attention to anything? Riley's plan is to get a big man named Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire. We'll be lulzing right past the Cavs after LeBron leaves for Brooklyn.

Lets take a look at your homerism. Mario Chalmers, basically a defensive specialist who will never be anything on offense besides a few games where he will occasionally put up big 3 point nights.

Michael Beasley, couldn't even get in the starting lineup because of how bad his defense is

Daequan Cook, a shooter who can't do anything else

Dorell Wright, can never play a full season.

Amazing young core you got right there.

Mario Chalmers was the first Heat rookie to start all 82 games that says something. He was also top 5 in the NBA in steals. Beasley put up better rookie numbers than Chris Bosh his rookie season and his defense only got better as the season went on. Did the Cavs have anyone make All Rookie First Team like Beasley did? Daequan Cook isn't just a shooter he's also a very good defender and Dorrell, when healthy, will be a starter for us he just had a bad knee injury. Mo and Delonte aren't young so don't give me that crap.

The only young guys on your team are Hickson, Boobie who is complete trash compared to any of these guys and 2 guys I've never heard of.

WIN...the Cavs have young talent? Lebron is young but he has already been in the NBA for a while. Varejao is good sometimes, I mainly always see him taking a charge or getting under peoples skin.

I wasn't defending the Cavs 'young core'. I was pointing out how dead wrong you are about the Heat having a good young core. Because they don't.

So a rookie who started every game on a playoff team and an all rookie first team player isn't a good young core? Oh I also forgot we have the current 3 point shooting champion in his third year in the L. You're seriously ill if you don't consider that a good young core.

/I think Rashard Lewis just hit another 3 off an inbounds play.
