MainEv3nt
An NBA source has told the Orlando Sentinel that the Orlando Magic will match the five-year, $34-million offer sheet extended by the Dallas Mavericks to Marcin Gortat and thus retain him. The team would not be able to trade him until Dec. 15, at the earliest, if that's what the team wants to do. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orl-magic-retain-marcin-gortat-071309,0,2845810.story gay. BlueDevil
cant believe this I thought for sure he was gone.Does this make the Magic any better? I dont know, but should help them keep Dwight rested.

JWaLL
Wow, I didn't see this coming. This sucks for the Mavs. Now they really need a backup center... or a better starting center.
bigdog17k
I'm glad they matched the offer, I like Gortat. He's very valuable. We need him.
Diesel
What [expletive]ing [expletive]s. They already have Dwight and are selfish not allowing Gortat to go elsewhere to get an oppurtunity to start and he is a capable starter at the Center position. It isn't fair to make him sit on the bench and play 10 MPG.

The GM is going to do what's best for the team, not the individual player, and hanging on to Gortat is for the best team.

He's the perfect compliment to Dwight off the bench. We need the depth. Edited July 13, 2009 by bigdog17k

Riot
I was expecting it. Our frontcourt is loaded now. I heard Marcin is disappointed though since he wanted to get like 30mpg.I wonder how many minutes he'll get now. I wonder if we'll trade him come December, or if we'll wait til the seasons over, or if we'll just keep him.
The Goods
Wow, this is very suprising, I didn't think Magic would get him back. I think Magic got better now in the off-season.

JWaLL
I kind of wanted the Mavs to get him. I really think that would have given him a boost in his career and a chance to show off what he is capable of. Playing behind undoubtedly the best center in the league right now isn't the best way to get your name out there. Poor Marcin. At least he's getting a big bonus. OldChili
Sucks for the Mavs, but as of right now I could care less. GORTAT IS BACK.
MaxaMillion711
glad to have him back ... wonder if magic plan to trade him cause I hear he is not happy about the resigning ... hmmm
AtTheDriveIn
Can't help but to think that Gortat, costing roughly 6.8 million on average per season is over spending. Financially, we're way over the salary cap anyway. We also could have signed a back-up center for a fraction of the price and he would have played the same minutes, and did the same job that Gortat does for us. I'm, of course, happy that we got him back, but I just don't think, financially, that it was the right way to go considering that in the way that he's just going to be a back-up once more this coming season. Cobb
I really hate seeing a guy only play 10-15 minutes when he's capable of playing so many more. I hope he at least gets a title out of this.

Gortat is a monster, he will be mad this season now and will not be that good teammate anymore and instead fight Howard at practice and destroy him in the post. Gortat, go to Europe now and make the Magic waste 34 million dollars.

xx.
He wasn't going to start at Dallas..He would definitely start over Dampier. Plus they were even trying to trade Dampier because they were so confident they were getting Gortat.
