"The additions of Rashard Lewis and Mo Evans combined with Josh Howard’s return from injury gave us a logjam at the small forward spot," said Grunfeld. "Coming to terms on a contract buyout with Al was mutually beneficial, as it allows us to clear space in the rotation and allows him the chance to pursue an opportunity with another team." Thornton was originally acquired from the L.A. Clippers in a three-team, six-player deal on February 17, 2010. Stick a hand in his face, and it's ugly. The worst part about Thornton is that, when he's out on the court, he ends up forgetting he has a team. That's why he's no longer a Clipper, and probably why he's not with Washington anymore.Yeah he's a hard worker and has been committed to the defensive end surprisingly, I know the public perception of him wasn't great in LA, but he's been very solid for us. He fouls a lot, and takes some dumb off balanced jumpers, but for the most part, he knows his role. The reason why he isn't in DC anymore is because of the logjam at the SF spot and was getting frustrated due to the lack of minutes he was getting.
