Bucks still shorthanded

The Bucks have some injuries of their own. Forward Carlos Delfino (groin) will miss his sixth straight game, center Drew Gooden (back) will miss his second straight game and forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute will miss the game with a sore right knee. Mbah a Moute missed 10 of the first 12 games and 17 overall with tendinitis in that knee. Mbah a Moute was starting in place of Delfino. Shaun Livingston will start in his place tonight. Ekpe Udoh will start again for Gooden. With the Bucks battling to catch the New York Knicks for the final playoff spot in the East, the injuries come at a particularly bad time. “That’s tough,” Mbah a Moute said. “Especially at this time of year where we need all the wins we can get.” Bucks coach Scott Skiles chose Livingston to start because he still wants sixth man Mike Dunleavy coming off the bench. Livingston has started 23 games this season but fell out of the rotation when he missed a couple games with a sprained ankle and the Bucks acquired Monta Ellis.

At 7-45, the Bobcats’ season has been a season-long slide. Bobcats coach Paul Silas was asked before the game at what point did he realize the season would be such a struggle. “Not early on, because we were like 2-4 when Corey Maggette went down,” Silas said. “When he went down, things just began to change. We really needed him and his 20 points a game to keep us going. And then the other injuries that we had to D.J. Augustin and Gerald Henderson, and it was just a disaster after that.” Maggette will miss his fourth straight game with a strained right Achilles’ tendon. He’s missed 23 games thus far this season, most with a left hamstring injury, and the Bobcats are 1-22 in those games. Augustin will also miss the game with tendinitis in his right knee. He’ll miss his 12th game of the season. Reggie Williams, who was playing in Maggette’s place, also will miss the game with a sore left knee.

I like what the Bobcats did today. Let the guys who can make shots (Kemba and Mullens) take the shots. Granted, neither of them shot well, but I would rather see them shoot than say, someone like Derrick Brown.
