The Big Three — Boston’s Big Three, as opposed to Miami’s or San Antonio’s — is over.

You probably already knew that after the Celtics mustered all of one win in their second-round ouster by the Heat last spring.

But with Paul Pierce dealing with heel issues, Kevin Garnett fading, Ray Allen still effective shooting threes but headed for his 37th birthday and the Celtics 5-8 entering the weekend, the team’s owners gave GM Danny Ainge the official go-ahead to move any member of the troika.

“We’ve got to move on,” said one Celtics official. “Let’s face reality."

Ray Allen is the only guy who would have any potential value imo. KG's knees are shot and his contract is ridiculous, and Pierce looks out of shape and slow. I can't see the Celts trading Pierce just because he has meant so much to the franchise; he'll probably finish his career there. And no team is going to be willing to give up a star, let alone a superstar for KG, so good luck to the Celtics. Celtics need to rebuild, trade Ray Allen and KG for some picks and young talent.
