Owner Real Deal Posted February 9, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted February 9, 2012 Right now, Nash is closing in on his final season of his contract with the Suns, and is an $11-12 million expiring OR a veteran player that can run an offense. Because of that, you have to wonder just how difficult it will be to trade him...but then again, you will have teams that believe he'd never wear their jersey via free agency, and maybe they want to unload a few players and convince him to sign an extension. He's already up there in age and not that great of a defender so there might be a reason that contenders might stay away from him. The guy is still an amazing player though. Even if he were to go to the Lakers who are probably the only decent team that is desperate for a point guard I still think the Lakers wouldn't be able to offer anything the Suns would want. Teams like the Lakers, Knicks and Magic would all love to have him. The problem is that what exactly would they have that would interest the Suns? Phoenix would have to take on a large salary or two and that really isn't worth it just to pick up a late 1st or run of the mill prospect. They'd be better off just letting him expire.
