Josh Smith Demands Trade

Recommended Posts

Even as Josh Smith is having a strong season for the Hawks he has let the team know he wants to be traded as the March 15 deadline approaches, according to people with knowledge of Smith’s thinking.

And the reasons for Smith’s dissatisfaction with the team now have to make the Hawks wonder if they will be able to sign him to a contract extension next season.

By the end of last season Smith wanted out of Atlanta because he believed he was singled out for unfair criticism by coaches and media. Those concerns have died down for the most part this season but now Smith believes he needs a fresh start with a franchise where he can better reach his potential on and off the court, according to one of the people with knowledge of Smith’s thinking.

Guy needs to make up his mind.

One minute he wants to be trade, the next he doesn't.

Then he wants to be traded again, only to change his mind.

How many times is this now that his name has come out in trade talk, whether it was him wanting out or the Hawks wanting to deal him?

Anyways, do you think he gets dealt? If so, where do you think he will/should go and for what kind of a return?

If Orlando can somehow pull it off that would do worlds for Dwight staying.

There's no way they trade him in the division though.

They are supposedly really good friends as well after playing on the same AAU team back in 2003. I remember reading something about how they were basically inseperable back then, along with Randolph Morris.

Anyways, I agree with you that it would help convince Dwight. There is literally a 0% chance of the Hawks trading him to the Magic, though. Not only because they are in the same division but because Orlando has shit to offer for a player like Smith, especially with him having the best season of his career so far.

I would absolutely love to see the Raptors make a play for him either now or in the off-season.

On a side note, how big of a mess is this Hawks team now? A couple years ago they looked awesome and definitely on the rise. A couple young studs in Josh Smith and Al Horford, a guy who people still thought would be competent in Marvin, a budding star in Joe Johnson, seemed like they were a competent point away from being special.. now it looks like they are going nowhere fast.
