David Kahn's Putrid Draft History

Recommended Posts

And aside from Rubio, Kahn's record on high-level lottery picks has been dreadful. In the last seven years, only six players taken among the first six picks have averaged fewer than 10 points and five rebounds or five assists while shooting less than 42 percent. Three of them -- Jonny Flynn, Wes Johnson and Derrick Williams -- were drafted by Kahn, who also traded for a fourth one, Martell Webster, in a deal with Portland two years ago.

The other two players with no ties to the T'Wolves were Yi Jianlian and Adam Morrison.

A pass can be given to Derrick Williams (for now) since he is still just in his rookie season, but it really is remarkable how you can have so many high draft picks and still come out with blanks nearly every time.

I have no idea why Wes Johnson is playing as poorly as he is right now, but the Timberwolves needed an athletic wing back then and Kahn was high as hell on Darko, meaning he didn't want to take DeMarcus Cousins.

Flynn was just a puzzling pick in the first place.
