Cobb, did you see Kolarov's goal fa Man. City today?

No, but from just reading match reports and glancing over the stats of the match, it seems like City is back. Also read that Kolarov and Balotelli fought for the chance to take the free kick that Kolarov eventually scored on which I thought was funny.

The F.A. introduces code of conduct for players

The Football Association is set to enforce a code of conduct for players, which aims to ratify issues including social media use and behaviour when representing England.

England players are expected to sign the document ahead of next month's friendly against Sweden and FA chairman, David Bernstein, insists the code is not a knee-jerk reaction to recent incidents involving Ashley Cole and John Terry, instead saying it should have been done "years ago".

"The England players are representing their country, they're role models, their behaviour is incredibly important in respect of everything else we're trying to do," Bernstein said. "I feel very strongly about that. It should really have been brought in years and years ago. Clearly in the past we've been hampered by not having a code and some things have been less clear than they might have been."

The FA consulted with the Rugby Football Union and the England and Wales Cricket Board when talks began in January this year to assess how to improve the disciplinary process.

There will be three sections to the code: general conduct, pertinent whether the player is representing club or country; conduct when players are with England; and how the governing body will handle breaches or alleged breaches of the contract.

I wonder if they'll add dress code too... :

Can't wait for the return of club football this weekend, specifically the first match of the weekend between Tottenham and Chelsea. If Tottenham plans on fulfilling their goal of a top-four finish, a win against Chelsea would be a crucial step in the right direction. On the other hand, a loss would pretty much leave them in a battle for fourth.

Would love to see AVB get some revenge on his former club, as I'll be rooting for Clint Dempsey and Tottenham.

Tough 4-2 for Spurs against yesterday. Didn't get to watch but the last ten minutes of the match and Spurs definitely had their chances, specifically after Cech's bobble in which Adebayor could've scored and then the shot Walker had shortly after that Cech deflected away.

I actually read that Kyle Walker quit Twitter after all the abuse he was receiving from fans. Got to think it's just a matter of time until we see another Ashley Cole like incident.

Ran across an interesting chart:

So much disparity for season tickets between the teams at the top of the table and at the bottom it's insane.

SBD: Fox and ESPN have dropped out of the EPL bidding process. NBCU is the clear front runner. BeIN the big question mark. Link coming.

FOX statement confirms Premier League has decided to go with different media partner for 2013-16. Had bid with ESPN. Surprising.

With no EPL games on Fox Soccer (damn SDTV) I guess I have no real reason to keep it after this season. I believe they do have the 2018 and 2022 World Cup rights, but that's light-years away.

Apparently, NBC Universal is the front-runner.

NBC Universal has emerged as the clear front-runner in the race to pick up U.S. rights to the EPL as part of a three-year deal starting with the '13-14 season, according to multiple informed sources. NBC Universal would not return repeated phones calls seeking comment. EPL is expected to make a formal announcement early next week, but sources paint a picture that has NBC in the final stages of a bidding process that started just last week and involved the biggest network groups in the U.S.

Sources say NBC's bid would pay the EPL around $83M per year, an amount that would more than triple the $23M per year that Fox currently pays. Sources say Fox and ESPN have been told that their joint bid was not accepted. It is not clear if the Al Jazeera network, BeIN Sport, still is in the running. The emergence of NBC Universal as the clear front-runner in this bidding process comes as a surprise. In the weeks leading up to the bidding process, NBC sources downplayed the company's interest.

So basically the only thing Fox is left with is the Champions League. They've lost everything else. Should be interesting to see what NBC will do if they indeed get the rights. Seems like they're really trying to broaden their sports coverage; they just bought the rights to Formula 1 last week, too.

Did not know that. If NBC does end up winning I'm interested in how they broadcast the two sports because I would imagine they'd share spme of the same time slots.

NBC has a shit ton of channels, so timing is the least of their concerns. Is News Corp also losing rights in the UK then? I don't see how they even need to bid lol

Pretty sure these are only the rights for the US. And yeah they have a lot of channels, should be interesting to see how many of them they utilize; it could end up being a good thing for us.

Well what I find interesting is that if Sky is keeping the UK rights, fox is losing them in the US. then i really thought about it, and NBC is in a position with new comcast money and no NHL this year, so they need to make a big deal to put themselves in a competitive position for the coming years

Ay-yo, Cobb!! Ya boy Dempsey saved them Hotspurs:

Clint Dempsey struck two minutes into injury time for Tottenham to rain on Robin van Persie's parade at White Hart Lane.

Van Persie had put Manchester United on course for a vital win when he scored his sixth goal against Spurs, but after a sustained period of pressure, Dempsey delivered Andre Villas-Boas' men a thrilling equaliser with less than 60 seconds of the match remaining.

Okwonga: United falter as Spurs get just deserts

Brewin: Cool Dempsey defies United grit

The American, who had missed a gilt-edged chance earlier in the second half, got on the end of Aaron Lennon's pull-back and slotted home after David De Gea had gone walkabout.
