It was all done for attention and the family should be held accountable for all the $ put out for the rescue efforts. I saw one of their Wife Swap episodes, by the way...the only one I've ever watched, and sure enough, it was them. I don't feel sorry for the kid, either, because from the episode, it seems like he was told to act like a brat, and he did his part. Makes me wonder if he was excited for the balloon story, also. I was following this story the day it was happening as I go to cnn.com quite often at work and it was breaking developing news. Let this be done with now, it's old.
